I have a hacksaw, rusty tap and die set, and a mill bastard file. And I'm not afraid to use them.

Honestly, mail it to Adco.  I just got mine back today, it was exactly one week turn around including shipping both directions (they had the barrel in their possession for 24 hours), and they do fantastic work.  Their AR15 cut/thread/crown is $65 plus shipping and that includes refinishing the new threads in blue.

Yea, that's the advice I received from a couple other people.

Adco.

They did a fantastic job on my chopped FSB project. I didn't need my barrel threaded or shortened but I bet they'd do a good job on that too.

I'd suggest ADCO too. I've explored the local options and no one seems to know ar15 barrels like they do.

Here is a quick and dirty cell phone pic of my barrel back from Adco.

I will be sending them my HK USC barrel next week!  And probably many after that, they have my business.

I know that the gunsmiths we have on-staff at West Coast Armory have done jobs like that in the past.  And Tyler Bellande, who works in the Pro Shop, does custom work on handguns via his own company, Bellande Custom.  Give WCA a call at 425.641.2877, ext. 4 and ask about gunsmithing services.

Sell it on EE, then take the paypal funds, go to Amazon and buy the barrel you want.

No chances of getting bad work, wrong thing done- and if its lost in the mail Amazon will get you another one.

Rainier does a pretty good job if you're not stingy about the gas block.

They've got a gas block that replaces your FSB in a very clean manner.  I believe they also offer barrel cut/thread services.
