At almost 75% in King County, you can bet some of your fellow ARFCOM members and gun owners voted yes. Background checks are better than confiscation. Fucking assholes.

I feel like shit after reading the results. I bet most of the people in King County voted for "background checks" without actually reading the bill.

Yup. Some of my coworkers and relatives too.

And that school shooting sure didnt help either. Bloomberg must have been rubbing his hands in glee when he heard the news.

I swear you should have to pass a WASL-like test on reading comprehension for every bill before you are allowed to vote on it. Too many people voting on commercials and not the fine print.

You can pretty much say that about most of the state.

It's not that simple. How many college educated gun owners voted yes because they thought this would stall further laws and confiscation? Assholes that's who. The first rung on the ladder on "assault weapon" bans and confiscation has passed.

If you believe that, I've got the location of a Bigfoot den. I've had a chance to look at a DOL firearms file. Wouldn't be a thing to include these new transfers.

I should add: Firearms unit at DOL is super underfunded, low staffed and does not receive transportation funds like the rest of the agency. Legislature would need to find some cash. The backlog with CPL paperwork (the carbons that come back from Law Enforcement) and transfers is running several months now.

Best thing with those sub-humans is to promote drug-orgy parties in Seattle with free meth, crack and all this stuff and give enough for them to die of overdose.    Will get rid of most in a single strike.

I was born and raised in Washington State, moved to California because of my wife's job, but I have been engineering our escape from his hell-hole for ten years. I know you all think this is bad, and it is. But in California I can't even have a mag release on my AR, I have to have a bullet button. And forget getting a carry permit here. Never happen.

That being said, I am so sad to see the direction Washington is going. Here in California we conservatives simply don't have a chance, the left has a supermajority. And I see Washington going in the same direction. My parents and my sister are all trying to get me to pack up the family and come back home, but at this point, I am thinking Utah is the better bet.

I think things are only going to get worse in Washington. Tech billionaire liberals have pulled off a huge coup, and will be emboldened now. If the courts don't overturn this, dark days are ahead for the Evergreen State.

That's the rub.  They will now say, "You wanted it but we can't enforce it without registration - that way we will know what everyone has."  Chip away.

The only way this will be enforceable is if they can check to see if the firearm you are holding is yours. That means registration. This sucks the big one. This was bought and paid for by people that have armed security around them. I read where over $10 million from out of state was spent on advertising. Where were the ads against 594? Sure as hell weren't on TV.

Colorado stepped up and voted out the Demo Gov that passed the Magazine ban.  We can do something about this one IF IF IF everyone gets on the bandwagon and makes it so hot politically for the Governor and the Legislature that they will have to do something.  We need to quit infighting and stand together to VOTE OUT the IDIOTS.

Frankly, there were quite a few people who are gun owners who voted for this crap.  We need to put pressure on them to stand up for what they believe in.

Low information voters.  Who the hell really thinks that a LAW will keep FELONS from obtaining guns?  NO ONE.  Not even the liberals.  They KNOW this is about confiscation and some people (even gun people) are too stupid to see that.

And if the people want this crap after all... in the words of Conan the Barbarian "then, to hell with you".

RANT OFF.

SFC out.

If you hand a gun to someone once it is a misdemeanor, second time is felony. Enjoy.

Hoping it gets thrown out, or worst case cpl exception to all of it.

In a nutshell, all transfers of firearms outside of your IMMEDIATE family requires a background check. Family doesn't mean Uncle, Niece, Cousin, etc.

Why would there be a CPL exemption?

Re edit-Just wanted to check since I haven't bought a handgun over the counter for awhile. Still no NICS exemption since Bill 1839 hasn't passed. If they can't get this bill to pass, I don't see an exemption happening.

And 'transfer' includes HANDING a person a gun, not just sales.  There are exceptions, but they are narrowly defined.  For example at a range, BUT ONLY at a competition or a class. There's an exception for hunting, but ONLY where the recipient is legally authorized to hunt.

I said "hoping" for a reason. In theory the legislature can modify the initiative to make it work, while keeping with the spirit of the intent. So they could add cpl exceptions. I don't have any idea what the chance of that happening is though. In fact everyone with a cpl has previously passed a background check...

an endorsement for 591 would have helped, and wouldn't have cost much at all. few FB posts, little snippet in the american rifleman, postcards, ect. that would have voided 594 and it lost by less than 5%. a push for votes on that from the NRA could have easily made that one go the other way.

I'm also thinking a big "transfer party" to slam the DOL with pistol forms.
1.)  I'll get a cheap handgun from one of my suppliers
2.)  I'll have a bound book dedicated to just this one pistol
3.) Get a bunch of us together, and we all start filling out the Pistol Transfer form and 4473.  Maybe have it change hands 5 to 10 times a day, but not often enough to the same person to trigger the Multi handgun form.
4.) Every week, send in 35 to 70 pistol transfer forms for this one pistol to the DOL
5.) Keep it going as long as possible.

In other words, let's bury them in paperwork!  Shit, I think they are already one year behind on entering forms (based on one that round tripped to me because I missed a field.....)

I remember reading about a big circle of folks in front of the capitol in one of the post-Sandy Hook SAFE(ish) Act states, where they handed PMAGs around in a circle.  The quote was something to the effect of "2,500 felonies per minute".

I'd be up for doing that with long guns.

Actually the way I read it even handing a pistol I own to my wife would technically be illegal under 594. Yes there are exemptions for GIFTING to immediate family but no provision for borrowing or loans. Maybe I'm splitting hairs but currently any pistol you buy in WA is registered to you. So am I not the sole owner and handing it to my wife not as a gift would violate 594? No!?!
