Richard Sanders is a 2nd amendment friend. He was not reelected after his last term because of his conservative values and belief that the constitution means what it says.

Sanders maybe good for the second amendment but he is a radical when it come to all other area of the law. He has been so off the grid with several of rulings in the past that most say he has a hard time ruling on fact instead of his beliefs. For instance, while on the Supreme Court in the over 300 cases he ruled on he has ruled in favor of the criminal 90% of the time. My vote is for John Ladenburg. I'm not too worried about 2nd amendment issues at the state level. Just my opinion

That's pretty accurate. I do like that Sanders claims to support the constitution as it was written. I even like that he is generally disliked by a lot of other judges. However, he has made numerous rulings in which he seems to ignore the well established facts of the case because he thinks there is some kind of broader political point to be made.
Yes, I know that this happens sometimes with more liberal judges as well, but Sanders is one of the most glaring examples of this in WA. Also, don't think that just because he is conservative that you will like all of his rulings. Sometimes he just goes way off the deep end. He should run for political office, not as a judge, I might vote for him then. |

So, who is the best candidate?
I do not want to derail this thread but I also have this same question for other seats. US Rep District 7 and 1 Senator: Baumgartner or Jackson? Thanks! |

When I worked in LE, some Judges would almost always rule for the defendant, regardless of the facts..they just hated sending someone to prison even if he was an 8 time looser, being convicted for the 9th burglary. It was really frustrating.
I did have one experience in court where the bailiff called the case, and as the defendant walked up to the table, the first words out of the Judge's mouth were "I knew I should have sent you to prison the first time I saw you." I could pretty much tell how things were going to turn out at that hearing. And I was correct. I hardly had to say a word. |
