I know a father can give a handgun to his son without any paperwork but how about a son giving a handgun to his father?  Also if the son can give the handgun to his father without any paperwork can he take the handgun to a gunshop and sell it?  A buddy asked me this question and I'm not quite sure how it would work.   Thanks for the info guys.

Spouse, Parent and Child, Grandparent and Grandchild, all do not require an FFL,  it doesn't matter which direction the transfer takes place.

Thanks, so the father could sell the pistol to a gun shop with no problems then?

Yes. All the licensee does is log in who the firearm came from.
