In-Laws want to get the wife and I an authentic Amish Cedar Chest as a graduation gift. Would like to make a weekend trip out of it and drive up from Virginia and buy a chest from somewhere at non tourist prices.

Any advice on stores or places to stay?

My wife unit had good luck with Gish's Furniture when she wanted night stands.    http://gishs.com

When I see my dad tomorrow, I'll ask him where he got his roll-top desk made.  As I remember, the price was a bit high, but it's made out of oak (weighs 300lbs or so) and very well made.

Non-Tourist prices will be very steep - but you should be getting a piece of furniture that will be passed down for generations instead of being left on the curb in 8 years......

This.  Amish aren't different than anyone else.  If you're willing to buy junk, they're willing to make it for you.  High quality furniture is going to come at a price, but it will last

Once you know where you'll be looking we can suggest hotels, restaurants, etc.
Sort of backward I guess, but we'll do what we can.

ETA: These look nice. http://www.snydersfurniture.com/sleeping/hardwood-chests/cedar-chests.html

Markets At Shrewsbury. Do a search for that. Southern York County, PA. They will have what you want. Call the Amish owners and tell them what you are looking for, to be sure it is in stock.

Right off of Rt. 83
