Nice place to shoot, only problem is you can't have any more than one round in the gun. Not that I'm looking to go crazy squeezing rounds off, just think it'll not be as much fun when shooting an AK. This is not true. There is a 5 round limit on pistol and rifle. Delco Field and Stream is a great range. The have 100 yd rifle range, 25-50 yd pistol range, black powder range, smallbore rifle range, airgun range, skeet, trap, table trap, 5 stand sporting clays, archery range, archer field course, and several actvities as well as many matches. No longer run by the old fudds, the club and matches get better every year. You should check it out. |

out of ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Nope. Just about every range I've looked into has had a magazine restriction, including private ranges. I've yet to see a good reason as to why most ranges only allow 5 rounds in a rifle at a time. ![]() ![]()

If there are in fact no magazine restrictions then I may give them another look. |

but inside of an hour there are clubs that are good to go |

DCFS is currently 5 rounds at a time for rifle (Since 2009 or 2010?), 5 rounds for pistol (possible increase in works with enough complaining from members). No working from a holster on the pistol range. Only time limits are on the shotgun ranges on Sundays before noon. Southern Chester has more limited shooting times then other ranges, nothing before 10am, Sundays before noon, Shooting stops at 4, 5, 6 or 7 depending on day of week and time of year. No magazine limits that I know of. Lower Prov doesnt have magazine limits, but does limit you to 1 shot per 1 or 3 seconds (depends on range) unless you go through training/qualification process. North of the city has some ranges, some with similar rules. If you want less rules you need to head to where the gun ranges aren’t in densely populated areas and under attack by neighbors or under control of shooters who only believe in "sporting purposes". Usually this will mean ranges further west, further north - or yes even sometimes in NJ. I personally am a member at both DCFS (5 minutes away) and NHRPC (great facilities). If you wanted to see NHRPC, my best recommendation would be to come out for a match. They are all fairly low pressure events, you get to spend time with like minded people, and we have all skill levels from beginner/novice to expert/master. There may still be room for this weekend's Practical/Precision match, and there is always room at the IDPA matches (First Sundays, 10am). NHRPC sounds like a nice place, I also did a little research on them. It sounds like you live closeby to me, how long does it take you to get there? Google maps says about an hour and 20 minutes for me. Regarding this weekend's practical/precision match, i'm assuming it's with handguns? Would I need to be a member to enter? what part of DELCO are you in (feel free to PM me) - I'm headed up to the club tomorrow for the match. It's usually about an hour to an hour and a half drive but well worth it for what the range delivers
I just saw this...haven't been on here for a bit. I live right in Wallingford. I'm still trying to make a trip down to Southern Chester to check it out...that will help me make a decision on wether to join DCFS or there. DCFS is just so close to me. |

I was also looking for a place to shoot skeet this upcoming weekend that is somewhat closeby to delaware county. Somewhere me and a few friends could go without having to be a member. Any recomendations?

Skip DCF&S and go check out SCCS&FA. Great range, great bunch of people running it. If you're in Wallingford, it's a straight shot down Route 1 towards Kennett Square. DCF&S is not only a restrictive Fudd & NRA-style range, but they've had their fair share of shady internal politics going on. I have been a member at both ranges for quite some time and stopped renewing at DCF&S even though it was minutes away from where I lived. If you want to go sight in your hunting rifle once a year, shoot skeet/trap with the in crowd, or be grizzled and sit in the clubhouse all day, it's perfect. |

^^ Second the above, I am a member of SCCFSA and it's a great club.
If you want to shoot sporting clays and are willing to drive a bit further, Atglen has an "open" sporting clays match every Sunday (?) that is open to the public. You should call ahead to make sure that they are still running those open matches; I was a member of Atglen for over a decade but let my membership expire in 2011. I joined SCCFSA (which is closer to me) and I haven't had a reason to drive another 30 minutes to get to Atglen. |

Recently started shooting at Southern Chester County myself and I like it. I haven't been there on a weekend yet but I do hear that it can get crowded.
