So just found a ton of mold in a closet in my apartment closet that's on my balcony.

Everyone is screaming st me to call a lawyer and to have it tested.

Maintenance guys are coming after lunch to cut open the walls to see how bad it is. Is that a good idea?

Should I call a lawyer right this second?

Whats the reason for lawyering up?  Are you/family members getting/been sick?    If not, then id just bring up to the landlord and get it fixed and possibly compensated depending on how long it will take to fix.

So it's OUTSIDE and you want to sue someone?  Just making sure I understand that right.

Never seen a lawyer advertise for mold cases.

As a landlord I can tell you to simply call your landlord. Do you think they planted it in hopes you would get sick? Step back and take a look at things before over reacting. They don't want mold in their property any more than you do.

Is this something the complex knows about and failed to do anything ? Have you been complaining for a while to get things done and they haven't ? Have they failed to assist ?

It's like me finding ants in an apartment and wanting to sue . Your friends telling you to lawyer up is what's wrong with America. People trying to make a quick buck over nonsense

Talk to the landlord first. You have nothing to sue for unless they were knowledgeable about it and did nothing to fix it.

If you call a lawyer be ready to pay for it. I'm a landlord and if you say your going to call a lawyer to potentially sue me,  I would have you talk directly to mine from that moment forward to make sure it is handled 100% to the letter of the law.

jeez.  some wet drywall in an outside closet w/poor airflow and it got a bit moldy and you have friends crying about lawyers?  Just let the apt complex take care of it.  Outside isn't hurting anyone.

exactly how have you been negatively impacted and what financial remedies do you wish to pursue as a result?

The only way you would be able to have any sort of a claim is if your health is in jeopardy AND your landlord is refusing or delaying repairs. Not sure why you would want to get an attorney, unless you are looking for an early retirement, but even then, you have to give the landlord adequate time to repair, and you need to be experiencing health issues. Having gone through mold remediation certification, it is highly unlikely there is a mold in AZ that is a threat to your health, unless you are in very poor health.
