All,

Wife is looking for quality boots... Well let me take that a step further. I am tired of her buying shitty boots that she complains about all the time. So, I would rather get her some quality boots that fit well and will last. Any local shops anyone can recommend?

What side of town? Best advice is go to Cabelas or Bass pro and have her shop in the men's section. They're made better, but less stylish.

Style. Let's see. Less Han Solo-ish, more daily use. Something she could wear to work and then she could go hunting in and walk for miles and miles. I am willing to travel all over Phoenix to get a pair and if I can support a local company, all the better.

Bass Pro, Cabelas, REI and the Arizona Hiking Shack will have something for her. My wife loves (on her 2nd pair) her Merrill moabs but they are light duty hikers. They are made for comfort first then for hiking second.

Merrill Moab mids are great for daily wear and light hiking. They leave something to be desired when walking through cactus and really steep and/or rocky terrain but they are comfortable and more rugged than a tennis shoe. I have no problem walking 7 or so miles at a time wearing mine. Much more than that and I prefer something with a fuller/stiffer shank, like my 8" Danner Pronghorns.
