Dear Senator Flake,

As your constituent and as a combat veteran that swore an oath to support and defend the Constitution of the United States I am extremely troubled by your support for the Terrorist Firearms Prevention Act.  

This legislation would do nothing to protect America or its people from terrorists and would only serve to further strip away our already eroded right to self defense.  Denying Americans their explicitly protected Constitutional rights simply because they are on some secret government watch list is counter to the values of this country and wrong.  

It's no secret that certain mosques in the U.S. have become breeding grounds for radical Islamic ideology, so why has no one in Congress put forth a bill to prevent muslims on these lists from entering a mosque or exercising their right to free speech?  Or why not a bill denying the so called "terrorists" on these lists their fourth amendment protections?  The answer to both questions is because doing that would be just as wrong as passing the Terrorist Firearms Prevention Act.  I'm not aware of you supporting legislation that would infringe on the speech or religious rights of hundreds of thousands of people, or their freedom from unreasonable search and seizure.  Apparently you still value the first and fourth amendments to the Constitution, just not the second.  We cannot allow ourselves to become a country that denies its people their rights simply for what they might do but haven't yet.  

Furthermore, the appeals process of the act is a sham.  Most Americans aren't getting paid $174,000 a year and thus cannot afford to front legal fees for an appeal or afford the lost wages that such a process might require.

The proper way to fight terrorism is to take the fight to the enemy, preferably where they feel the safest.  Your siding with the Obama administration on the gun control issue is shameful and demonstrates an unwillingness on your part to confront the president on the root cause of the recent terror attacks in the U.S.  If you really want to confront terror, focus your efforts on defeating radical Islam by defeating ISIS, al Qaeda, and other such groups, not by disarming the public without due process.  Afterall, the surest way to stop a bad guy with a gun is to have a good guy with a gun that can shoot back, whether that be a law enforcement officer or an armed private citizen.

The Terrorist Firearms Prevention Act of 2016 is a tyrannical violation of Americans' protected rights and completely unnecessary.  A terrorist is someone that has committed or conspired to commit an act of terror.  If the government is going to label someone as a terrorist and treat said person as a terrorist then the government should be able to prove its case in court.  After which, said individual would already be prevented from legally purchasing a firearm and thus nullifying any need for this bill.  

In summary, the Terrorist Firearms Prevention Act of 2016 isn't worth the overpriced paper it is printed on and should immediately be filed away into the bad idea drawer, never to see the light of day again.  Your actions with regards to this bill and any future gun control attempts will determine whether or not you have my vote and support, should you seek re-election in 2018.

Flake nor McCain read or listen to their constituents. they have been waffling back and forth on gun related issues leaning more toward the left. i would like to see both replaced.
