Avra Valley

Yep, 2-1/2 glorious minutes of can't see across the property because it's raining so hard. Then it stopped.

I suppose it's a start. I'm glad too, not for me, for my G'kids. I've seen rain.

About an hour of a split ocotillo and a busted limb. Along with a huge mess in the yard I cleaned yesterday.

Got plenty of wind, but no rain here in Florence.
Sort of thankfull, the humidity would be a bugger otherwise.

Got some rain yesterday out here in south Goodyear. Rained during the night enough to soak the ground, but no lightning that I saw or heard. Looking forward to more rain the light shows!

Glad we didn't get any rain in E Mesa or that wind would've taken down a bunch of trees.

I was wheelin' in Box Canyon yesterday. By the time I crested the mesa, I could see dark clouds to the east. watched it slowly roll in then got out of there. By the time I got to the prison in Florence, I couldn't see the mountains. Knew it was coming in hard. Got nothing but wind and dust but I don't mind. I'm tired of weeding.

Drinking a beer while cooking a chicken on the grill, sweating, Bingham on the stereo and watching big thunderheads roll in over 4 Peaks. I love this state.

Coming down cats and dogs at 101 and McDowell.  And the lightning and thunder scared the bejesus out of me, the wife and the dog.

Lightning as the storm passed through Mesa into Scottsdale.  Was at the movies, so did not get to go shoot where I would have.  So just did a few from the front yard.  I am looking almost straight north in these shots.

Had a micro flood here then it was dry an hour later because it was so fucking hot! Tons of lightning during and my power went out twice....

Dry as a bone in the southeast. Not even wind.

I really want to spray for crickets but I swear that if I do, the rain gods will then decide to not go around me and downpour. It's a risk I'm willing to take.

I swear I live in a storm dead zone - if they are coming out of the east.  It's almost comical watching the radar.  There will be a huge purple line of storms coming right for my house, then it parts like the Red Sea, passes to the north and south of my house, then reforms a line just after.  No joke, I almost wonder if it's this little area of farmland that kills the storm's power.  Because the parting happens right there.  Also, I notice in the summer when I'm riding my motorcycle on the 303, when I hit that area, the temperature drops 10 degrees or more.

If storms are coming from the west, they break up in the same spot, after soaking my neighborhood.

Do you live on my street?

I just sprayed my precious Cyper (what remains) around the house. It's windy out but I found more than a few dead roaches and one dead scorpion (first one I've seen!) which means they're getting too close. Fresh dosage should keep them away.

I found a sweet high spot in Gilbert for some lightning shots. I just need a good storm to roll in from the south or southeast...

The hills around my house would offer you a great vantage point for the entire valley, more importantly the Superstitions where it builds up and rolls in. I know, a bit far from your house.

Where at?  I usually go all the way to the end of Elliot at meridian where it hits state trust land, or all the way south on Cooper to Hunt hwy in Chandler where it hits res.

Here are a few from hunt hwy

Here is one of my favorites from the end of elliot.

It's near downtown. I'd rather not give it up yet publicly until I can try to make some frames there.  Shoot me an IM and I'll fill you in.

Great shots. I wish I had the time to storm chase, but the family keeps me pretty close to home. I am stashing my gear in the car and will hit my spot on the way home any night it flares up this week hopefully.
