Decided to make the haul a few hours North this Saturday to see all of the full auto and artillery fun.
I'll let all of the pics and quick little vids do most of the talking - but a hell of a time, some great people and amazing weaponry.
Saturday evening, prior to the nightshoot, I coincidentally sat down to eat some delicious BBQ at a table with a number of much older men, who were more than friendly and gracious. Every one of them had amazing tales about various hunting trips abroad, with equally amazing tales about current and bygone collections of big bore rifles.
I had planned to attend the Safari Rifle Match at PRG, and mentioned it during the course of discussion. Turns out one guy was a gentleman by the name of John, who is well known amongst that particular discipline of shooting, and is affiliated with some publications that deal with those specific shooting sports. Apparently many of the rifles that would be in use the next day came from his collection at some point. Another gentleman at the table was Mike, of Granite Mountain Arms (High end custom big bores)
I'm being somewhat vague intentionally, but also ignorantly, as there was far too little time to collect much more information about these particular individuals, whom have lifetimes of experience well beyond my years.
My only 'experience' with these particular types of rifles and shotguns come from the book "Unintended Consequences" by John Ross. I've been intrigued certainly, and while I have no inclination to actively pursue owning such a weapon - meeting people that had actually lived those stories, and owned the weapons, was enthralling.
I sat and mostly listened for a good couple hours, but alas, it was time for the fireworks. Fortunately, I'd catch up with John again the next day, and see some of the aforementioned weapons firsthand...

I am in the process of buying a .375 H&H in a Win M70 Supergrade for the same reason. I loved that book!
