I didn't even know these were still around,  got nailed at 120th st and Shea on my way to help a family clean up storm damage.. (no good deed goes unpunished) Got me going 61 in a 50.

Options

1.. pay $260 ticket and points on currently clean license.

2.. take class unknown cost but no points.

3..  Ignore

4.. ???

Thoughts or advice?

Don't go on the website to check your status. That will count you as served.

...and then ignore it some more.

Have to be served in person for it to count so ignore it for the next 90 days and your good.

Do not answer the door either. Had one beat on my door for 3 hours one night as we sat in the back yard about two days before their chance to serve was up. Neighbor called the cops on the guy and they removed him the next evening. Screw them.

I got one and just paid it.  I broke the law and the stress of trying to hide wasn't worth the money.  Also, I don't think it even counts against your license.

I got one and ignored it, my wife got one in my car and I returned the form stating it wasn't me and declined to say who it was. photo radar is un-constitutional unless they physically serve you with a summons, so it's your duty as a citizen to ignore it and make them serve you

Down here (local laws and statues may vary - I'm in SV) I ignored it for a few months, and it was dismissed due to no service.

If I were you I would just take care of it. The Scottsdale City Court has been actively suspending drivers licenses for "ignoring" tickets. Getting arrested for driving on a suspended license is no fun FYI.

But what do I know???

See, they can't do that down here. Nothing in the statue - and it looks like in the upcoming elections, the measure to ban any red light cameras or speed vans in the county is going to easily pass.

How are they doing that?  It's not a "real" ticket until it is properly served.

It might be too late now, BUT

If you get flashed, you can go to the servicearizona, com website and change your physical address (apt complex with no # is good, or a diff city like Tucson).

Then when a human reviews the photo and sees the info, they will send the ticket to the other address. There is no way to prove you ever got it, and they can't serve you.

After 120 days, change address back, and the ticket disappears.

I know someone who has done this multiple times with no negative effects.

I will tell you I contacted a lady the other night who was driving on a suspended license who assured me she's been "dodging the server" for weeks. She was really pissed when her car was impounded.

Our local lawyers will need to comment on this, but it sounds like Scottsdale is going against the court ruling from the 90s and the state law.

It depends on the process server being honest. Many process servers have claimed service on photo violation citations, when no such service was performed. If the process server drops service on your doorstep, and tells the court service was executed, the citation will proceed through the process. When the violator doesn't show in court, a default judgement is entered as well as an order of suspension.

I didn't realize that there are still people that are accountable for their actions

Happened to my dad.  He was literally out of the country when the server claimed to have served him.  Court didn't much care, but did waive the fine for driving on a suspended and then charged him for the speeding ticket.  No punishment to the lying process server.
