For those of you who know him, his identity has not been publicly released yet. I confirmed with a friend that is also a detective with Phoenix PD

RIP, Detective. Judging by those who know you, the City of Phoenix is diminished with your loss.
Prayers to his family, friends, and Arfcom brothers. |

I have worked with him for almost 20 years now and he was a good guy and great detective. RIP brother.

Let us know a screen name when it becomes public. Also if you are in contact with his family at any point and they need anything let us know. |

I just heard from a mutual friend. Fuck. I learned a lot from him.

Not a finer man out there... My heart aches for his family and he will be sorely missed.

Great guy, humble, and kind. Posted on here every onceinawhile, and had a good hand with 1911s.

... the few times we spent together, with some of the folks here, will be remembered forever

Godspeed Officer.
The caliber of the men in here mourning your loss speaks volumes of your character. May all of you who knew him find comfort in your memories with him. |

I reached out to John a few years ago for some work related stuff and knew him from another board, what a fantastic guy and a wealth of gun knowledge.

What a loss.
Big contributor on AZS as well - extremely helpful and always generous with his knowledge and his time. Live in spirit, John. |
|
For those who know the family, please let us know of any way we can help.

I was literally sick to my stomach when I heard the news of who it was. Please keep your family in your prayers, as well as that of the injuried Officer.

|
RIP Sir. If anybody knows the family - please let us know what they need!

RIP Sir. If anybody knows the family - please let us know what they need! View Quote Right now, just prayers and emotional support from what I understand. I want so bad to come out there for his Memorial and Service, but I don't think that I can handle another one. Have heard the Final Call for too many friends over the years. Please check the "100 Club" in Arizona and if you donate, put "Survivor: Hobbs Family" in the comment box so that 100% of the funds go to his wife and kids. That would be my only suggestion. |

Lousy news for sure. God Speed and good work in your final acts of courage.

Sorry for your loss, Arizona seems to have lost a fine detective.

Hobbs helped me out a lot when I was getting hired. Great guy.

Wow. Took the son of a bitch out while fataly wounded. His last act of puting that piece of shit down may have saved other lives.
|
|
Oh my gosh I am so sorry. I will keep a candle lit for him at St. Andrews for a month.

It was sad to hear the news yesterday. The thought of it possibly being a fellow ARFCOM member crossed my mind yesterday as well. Seeing this thread broke my heart that much more.
RIP |

Some give all.
Godspeed, Detective Hobbs. May his family and friends find peace, eventually, in the honor with which he served his community. We are fortunate, and should be grateful, that men like this walk among us. |
