87% of the people saying they're in won't show. If there really is this much interest we may have to split it up into multiple trips. Any more than 4 or 5 people is gonna be hard to do.

I would like to go but as always sometimes things come up at the last minute.. i have a lotof things come up at last minute notice, within a day or two have to be somewhere ..

Also would this be a camping type thing or just head out at night to hunt ?

i am new to the phoenix area and have no spots yet..

I know some good areas in northern arizona though

I'm not bagging on anyone, but from the several HTF events I've been to it is the trend. And I've been guilty of it too. 3 kids will do that to you.

It will more than likely be a weekday that we go. Just a day hunt. And it will more than likely be up north a little bit to avoid the heat. I'll update the thread as we get closer and we'll figure it out.

ive relayed this before in here, but the most memorable "people confirming then not showing up" was a truck club that i was part of a few years back.

Was suppose to be about 20-25 trucks MINIMUM confirmed, and upwards of 50 possibility's ..

Ended up going to the meeting location and one other truck showed up with a couple of oddballs in it .. we were too far away from home to cancel so we camped and did a little 4x4'ing but we never went again here..

Glad the mag restriction went away too.

My suppressors and SBR were approved today. I'm good to go for this whenever we decide to go.

We decide on a date yet? I have drill the first weekend of August.
I'll have quite a few items to bring for people without cans to try out.
Should have an integral 300 Blackout done also by then.

I would love to go, but I know nothing about hunting, and dont have a can. Wouldnt mind learning if someone was willing me to loan me one. What does one do with a dead coyote? I am guessing they are not good eating.

UPDATE-
It's on for Thursday, August 9th! The location will be up north a bit to avoid the heat. I'll let Rizzo be more specific on location if he wants.

Please check your calendars and let me know if you plan on attending. If you do not have a can, please have arrangements made before committing.

Because we will be hunting and not just dirt shooting, we will need to cap this at about 8 people max. If you say you are in and then need to cancel, please let me know in case I have other people waiting for a spot. I'll keep a confirmed list running in the OP.

Confirmed as of 7/3

-We'll be in the Ashfork area.
-2-3 hunters is best per team.
-Wear camo and cover up as much of your body as possible. If you don't have camo, wear natural colors such as tan, brown, and dark green.
-Each team will need to be able to produce their own calls.
-If you have not hunted predators before, here's what you can expect:

*10-15 minute periods of sitting completely still and not making a sound except for whatever predator calls you are using.
*Long periods of not seeing any animals, short periods of seeing animals, and any combination in between.
*Animals that will pop up quickly right in front of you, animals that take their time coming to you from far away, animals that will hang out for a minute or hang out for 3 seconds, and any combination in between.
*Making quick off-hand shots more often than not.
*Having a helluva good time.

Date is TBD depending on when the legislative session ends and we can get out there (90 days after the session ends is when the law will take effect). It will more than likely be a weekday. So for now, if you are interested please let me know in this thread or via IM and I will keep you updated. I would like to keep this fairly small and I reserve the right to be selective about who comes out. Bonus points if you can lend Rizzo a can for the hunt (Tim, I'm looking at you...).

Can we expect a night NOD hunt at any point? I'll be running PVS-14's and a PEQ.

This hunt will be daylight only. Perhaps we can arrange a night hunt at some point. We'll see how this one works out.

Tim_McBride has stated that he has some gear that he can make available for use. If you need it, I would suggest you reach out to him and see if he can help you out.

Now is a great time to buy a can. I've heard wait times are going down. Tim can probably have it in hand by the time of the hunt and although you can't take it home with you, he might be able to "supervise" your use of it...just a thought.

I have the following I can loan out:
3 223 suppressors 1/2-28 thread on
A 22mag Suppressed cricket for someone who knows what they are doing
a suppressed 12 gauge 870
suppressed 300 Blackout(need to go on an SBR lower)

Remember you get a POI change with a suppressor, so you'll need to be able to meet up ahead of time with me to get your rifle zero'd with the can so we know the shift. I don't want to be doing this the day of the hunt and scare off every predator for miles

Also remember guys, you need a hunting license!

I'll more then likely be bring my AR or suppressed 6.5mm Mauser if I loan out the AR stuff.

EDITED:
Also have a few integral 9mm ARs if someone wants to try that, but once again needs to be a more experienced yote hunter that is able to get the shots, IMHO...

EDIT AGAIN:
I'll leave it up to Rizzo to make the call on the 9mm's. I've taken plenty of game with a 22 mag but you have to wait for the good shot....

Your not helping me and my goal of saving money (sarcasm no offense meant..)

The can i want is either a quick disco 5.56 , or a .45 can .. Im really trying to pay off some bills at the moment but i do intend to buy one within the year and will most likely go through tim depending on what i decide on and what he carries..

by that time i should have a pistol lower built, would that be a substitute for the sbr lower ?

also i might have an ar upper that is 16.1 + plus flash hider, ill have to check when i go to prescott this weekend ..

and on a side note, Thanks for even offering this tim and others who have offered to loan out equipment..

*edit* , ill also add that if its in the ashfork area, most of it a 9mm would suitable in for the smaller predators, the distances that i am used to there are a lot smaller / closer than most..

I hunt archery myself so i usually try to go for the "known" shots anyway, dont take any chances ..
