I am going for a job interview in Akron on Thursday.

Would like some possible comments and advice on places to live in Summit County. Is "anywhere but Akron" a good choice or should I stay away from other locales? Just want to know as my wife has some questions

Summit county is quite big, considering Akron isn't as big compared to other cities. Where you stay depends on where your job is and how close you want to be to it. There are many good locations within Summit county that you can stay, but then you have to consider school system as well if you have children. The higher end locations according to my experience is Hudson, Bath, Green, Fairlawn. Then you have Stow,Tallmadge, Firestone, Mogadore, many others I just can't remember the names. Where to stay away I will leave out as it is personal opinion and I wouldn't want to offend anyone living in those areas.

It does really depend on where you want to live relative to where you work, and if being closer to Cleveland proper is of importance to you.

I know Northern Summit county quite well.

Tell me where you are working, how far away you want to live from there, and what is important to you in a house, ie schools, land, shopping, and of course relative cost.

I live in Uniontown (but just inside the stark county line, so no e-check!).  I like it here, but I like quiet neighborhoods.  We have good schools.  Green borders Uniontown and is inside Summit county, so it's very similar.

Lakemore is beautiful this time of year...

If I got the job (god willing.....I really hope I get it), it'd be in downtown Akron. I'm fine with a 30-45 minute commute.

Welp. Guess I'd be looking at outside Summit County.

Unless you drive a real turd, echeck is basically a joke.

A buddy drives a 1997 Escort and his tin can still passes muster every two years.

I'd be more than happy to give an opinion on any questions you have, general or specific.

If Echeck, which is free by the way, is a deal breaker then you've limited yourself to Stark County.   The drive on 77 can be a bitch during rush hour.

Honestly where you live is going to depend how well your job pays. I lived in Akron for 32 years and still work there. Feel free to IM me and I can answer a lot of questions.

I remember it being a pain in the ass scam when I was growing up in Lorain County.

Maybe it's better now

Try south main street pass 619!
Greene township I think!
Nice houses!
Far enough from the Portage Lakes night life!
Close enough to go fishing! If you want!
Good Luck!!!

I live in Copley and it's ok, the LEO will sign off on tax stamps.  I know that doesn't really matter much now.  I shoot in my back yard and my neighbors are pretty cool.

I work downtown and live in Geauga County...I prefer acreage, good schools, and peace and quiet. The drive is worth it to me.

I gotta get the job first.

I also interviewed for a job out in Van Wert, so I'll get that one with my luck.

I'd avoid Barberton at all costs.

As mentioned the Lake township/Uniontown/City of Green area is mostly nice and equidistant from Akron and Canton city centers travel time wise.
