There won't be any rioting.  There will be annoying, traffic blocking marches though.  The Oberlin kids care more than the actual residents.  Odds are, if you avoid the nightly news, you won't even notice it.

GOP Convention coming in 2016, hopefully they don't burn the city down.

I'll be keeping an AR in my truck when I go to the airport.

If it happens it will happen then though I doubt it will.

The convention being held there is one of the dumbest political moves in memory, but that is another topic.

Cleveland police have already contacted the surrounding cities and suburbs about having extra officers available in case the residents get a little out of control.

For the Republican Convention next year, the amount of cops that will be in the city is going to be staggering.

The cops couldn't even stop a guy getting beat down on public square during St. Patrick day in broad daylight. A riot would get out of control very fast.

I live in "the heart of it all."  Hopefully folks won't get too squirrely.  I think that if there is trouble it will be on the main commercial streets not in the neighborhoods. If that holds true it should be easy to avoid. Still though I have been making sure that my grab and go items are in order in case I need to un-ass the neighborhood in a hurry.

I hope the judge waits until at Monday the 17th to announce his decision.  If he does it on the 15th, there will be lots of cops in town for police memorial events.  Drunken out of town cops and rioters would be a crazy mix!

Why would there be arrests in the Tamir Rice shooting?  What crime was committed?  The video evidence clearly shows Rice reaching for a pistol in his waistband.  Anyone who's taken a decent defensive shooting course knows "outdrawing" someone like this is critical especially at this short range.

I do fault the driver of the zone car who put his partner in this too-close situation.  But that's not a crime either.

Thanks guys!  Engineer, since you have imitation crab meat maybe we could start at your place and fall back to Safe1's if they make it up the hill. I'll bring plenty of fixins for crab dip...

I tend to think that even if things get crazy the trouble will be on main commercial streets and maybe parts of downtown if there are "peaceful demonstrations" there as well.  There are no Wal-Marts, CVS's, or liquor stores on my street - just houses so it doesn't seem like the kind of place that the "protesters" will find attractive for a gathering.  I think that if there is trouble it will likely be on Detroit near Cuddell Rec Center, downtown, or somewhere in between.  I really hope that nothing comes of all of this.

Yup - and when "celebrities" make half-truth tweets that "Tamir Rice, was slain while playing in a park" that just stirs the public stupidity up.

I'm hoping not to get any calls from dispatch for crowd control at some of the less-than-stellar complexes in our town.

I have talked to some police from the suburbs and they have said if shit gets out of hand that ClePD has asked for their help and a officers will render mutual aid.

I know the cops in my city really don't take any shit from people and would lock it down if need be but I'm really not worried as I already don't go into the areas that they would happen nor can I see the massive amount of leos that would respond let it move to the nicer areas.

It used to be that the cops here didn't take any shit either but from White to Jackson to Holder all telling them to be more sensitive (or else) they are in a tough spot.  I live in this city, I want an aggressive police force.  I have lived here for a long time without being beaten, shot, or mistreated by the police.  It isn't rocket-science and it sure as hell isn't because I'm white. It is because I'm not a criminal and I respect authority...

I saw on WEWS the PD caught some suspects in the recent robberies at gun point.

http://www.newsnet5.com/news/local-news/cleveland-metro/tremont-robberies-linked-to-14-year-old-and-21-year-old-brandon-tyrone-durrette

There was a lot of talk about those robberies.  It's good to hear that they made arrests.  The young one sounds like a real gem.  He cut off an ankle bracelet and skipped a court case in another robbery case against him.  I'm sure that we'll be able to get that one rehabilitated and into the Boy Scouts in no time...

B-I-N-G-O! H/T to safe1

these two items have kept the peace for millennia. what part of these two is all that hard to understand?
mebbe we need more Federal funds (your and my taxes) for teachers to "learn" this to people...yeah, right...(sarc)

it begins early in life--respect for authority--taught by a home-based FATHER and a loving MOTHER; a FAMILY--the building block of a stable society.

now you know why the incessant attacks on FAMILY, MARRIAGE, DISCIPLINE, AUTHORITY, RELIGION, FIREARMS, ad nauseum.

the Libtard.Commie/Socialist Utopians want to destroy all of these to build their own "Paradise," with them, of course, at the top which has never worked. IMHO the inner cities and African-Americans for the C-C-C, (Cleveland, Columbus, Cinci), have been dupes and pawns in this game for some time now, yet they still keep supporting and voting in their oppressors! Notice how the first thing these big-city Mayors and Councils do is to deny their citizens their basic right of self-defense. They take away their God-given (not govt) rights and look what you get. Chaos and insanity!

maybe the Cleveland School System needs more WORLD HISTORY teachers and less teachers on the "lets-all-sing-kumbiya-together" and other feelgood stuff where kids get a trophy every day just for showing up. Hey! Cleveland Public School Teachers Union--how'd these "big cities paradises" turn out?

rant over and out.

CPD has been under that requirement for a while now in anticipation of announcements for both the Rice and Brelo cases. I didn't know about the ONG. Are they actually staged somewhere right now or are they on notice that they could be called to report in soon.  That makes me wonder what they know about one or both of these cases that we don't.

I really hope that this city doesn't get torn up over all of this nonsense...

The guard is just on notice to be ready.  Same as LOTS of area LEOs.  I have heard rumors that the judge will wait until next Monday to announce the Brelo decision.  That way the police memorial ceremonies are not interrupted.  Although some assholes might make a bad decision to try to cause trouble during those ceremonies.

just had a beer with a Cleveland lawyer in a mega-firm whose office building is at North Point (9th and Lakeside.) he says a group of African-Americans in uniforms with badges or sleeve insignia (Pfc, Cpl, Sgt) were demonstrating outside of Cleveland City Hall today.

the lawyer told me that the Partners in the office have contingency plans for "events" and that all lawyers are now required to have their laptops with them 24/7, as they may be working at home, in court, or "places other than North Point" for the next 7-10 days if things go hot.

the lawyer also showed me his newest piece, a Sig Traditional Ultra, that he keeps in the small of the back. he's been a ccw from day 1.

here's part of the festivities today on East 9th Street in Cleveland blocking traffic. guess they don't believe in letting people get to/from work, but what the heck--there are now 100,000,000 Americans who are able to work, but are not working.

it's becoming commonplace that these instigators are bussed from city to city to raise hell. usually bought and paid for by the Soros crowd.

Indeed, George Soros has been heavily involved in the social unrest and movement-wrecking activity that has taken place all across the United States in recent months. From Florida to Ferguson and now to Baltimore, George Soros’ Foundations have been involved in making sure that not only are American citizens unable to overcome racial divisions with mutual cooperation but that even the racially isolated participants are unable to accomplish anything of substance.

The Brelo verdict should be announced on Monday.  Cleveland PD and the troopers will be in place before the announcement.  "Protesters" will be allowed to peacefully march or block streets.  If you work downtown I would leave work before the verdict is read.

Why is blocking traffic in the streets considered peaceful? It seems like that is a very aggressive and antagonistic move.

Honestly that might be a good strategy especially if there are out of town troublemakers here at the moment. If the city can wait them out it might not be as bad when the verdict is read.

Of course there could be protests/riots for not releasing a verdict fast enough for the mob too...
