Wood County

Scheduled a meeting with the Sheriff's office which took 10-15min. Got a call my license was ready in about 5-10 days (was a couple years ago).
Had to change my address recently and stopping in took 2 min.
The entire process in Wood County has been great.

Franklin County.

I would have gone to Delaware but their fees were a bit more and it was more of a drive so I gave Franklin (Columbus) a shot.  It was the most well run government service I have ever seen / heard of.  You do have to schedule an appointment but once you do, it's show up, fill out a small bit of paperwork, they take your photo, pay fees and you leave, it took all of 10 minutes.  I received a call the very next morning that the permit was ready and I was able to pick it up right around 24 hours after I applied.

Just passed my class yesterday, and need to go to the sheriff's office to put in my application.  What county would you recommend I go to for fastest turn around?  I live in Butler Co.

ETA: Called around and Warren County got me in for an appointment in 2 weeks.  Had the appointment on the 23rd of Feb and received my CHL in the mail today (26th of Feb)!!!!

Delaware county here.  I did my renewal paperwork yesterday around noon so we will see how long this takes.  When I first got my license it took the entire 45 days because i had lived out of Ohio since I was 18 so that really adds a lot of time to the process.

Belmont county, 5 days. Applied 6/29, Got the call that it was ready 7/4. Capt. Everett, who is in charge of background checks said it is typically 48 hours for them, but he is in charge of coordinating the Sheriffs dept. for Jamboree in the Hills and has been busy working on that. Plus the holiday weekend didn't help. He said he has been getting checks back in a few hours and then it is a matter of getting the paperwork in to the Sheriff to sign.

Appointment at 9:30 AM, got a call at 1:30 PM the same day to come pick up my permit.  Elapsed time: 4 hours!

The appointment setting process is really cool.  You go on their website and it lists days and times that are available.  Click one and show up.
Thank you Deputy Loar!

Allen County

Me and a shootin buddy took the class together in 2005 and he applied right away.  He got his in 10 business days.  I turned in paper work a week later and mine took 10 total days.  That was when the sheriff was Beck (pro-gun 1911 type guy).

So is Greene county still quite fast on permits?  Also if I moved to OH last Aug (first time living in OH), how much time will it add to the process?  Does it matter (or speed up the process) if I have a valid  CCW permit from another state?

Stark County. Turned in my app on 7Feb2012. Recived call on 13Feb2012 saying it was ready to be picked up (only 6 days) however the first available appointment to actually pick it up is 21Feb2012. So I set up an appointment for that day and will report back then when I have it in hand. That would make it a 2 week process total but the fact that they had it ready in 6 days was very surprising to me.

My dad turned his in the same day, 7Feb2012 but has yet to recieve a call saying his is ready. I assume his is taking longer because he lived out of state for a brief time. I will update when his comes in as well.

I was worried b/c I've heard Stark isn't the fastest but I am thouroghly impressed. If only they weren't back logged with appointments
