So last to DROS would be December 21, 2016 and pickup before the end of the day of December 31. I'm assuming that's what they are referring to. |

While we are still waiting for the regulations to be published, I can disclose that the state of California has purchased the DFM for inclusion in their new AW guide. The individual I spoke to mentioned that he believed the DFM to be an improvement over the FAB-10 from many years ago. He could have been employing subterfuge, but I have reason to believe that he was honest in his discussion.
It sucks that we have to resort to this sort of patented design, but the real benefit of the DFM is that it is easy to retrofit. Also when crossing out of CA, it is easy to remove the DFM and use a standard 30 round magazine from the bottom. Lastly, we have recently decided that we are going to fund $2 our of every DFM sale to finance litigation in CA. Details on this will be provided in the near future after we discuss things with the accountants and lawyers. |

That is great news to hear. I can't thank you enough for your support. The ridiculous laws here can be overcome but it needs work on many fronts. Industry support like yours will go a very long way. Plus, I'd like to own one of your BFS triggers at some point in the future.

The Franklin Armory DFM magazine seems to be a viable option at this point; instation of this w/o the modified
bolt release looks like a foolproof solution to "field-tests" by over zealous ATF or LEO |

Are all these solutions already available for purchase - DFM magazine, Bullet Button Reloaded, etc?
One of my rifles already has a bolt handle. I just need to close off and lock the gas system or remove the gas tube. |

So the franklin armory mag with the new bolt release; will it not lock the bolt to the rear on the last shot? I guess its not a big deal since I cant break down the upper and lower with the bolt to the rear. I just like how I can feel the bolt lock to the rear and onow I need to reload. Oh California, how I loathe its crazy interpretation of the constitution.

Some of you may be missing the point. The new law in CA requires disassembly of the action to remove the magazine. Locking the mag catch does not meet the legal requirement because the action can be intact while the mag catch is removed.
The tabs can be modifies on an existing magazine, but it undermines the strength of the feed lips. That is why we added the material for the flanges on the DFM magazine. Lastly, the State of California has informed me that the design is essentially an "improvementioned over the FAB-10 design" which was also deemed legal in CA. Many large OEMS are planning to use the DFM for CA next year. |

If you remove this mag and then close the rifle action, are you now in possession of a std detachable mag lower? If so then everyone needs to be aware of that. What concerns me is that when I met with the firearms division of DOJ back in 2000, they required that any modification to make a rifle compliant had to be done in a way they considered permanent. I have not talked to them recently but up until 4 years ago, that was still their view. Craig

Craig Correct, we are not advocating closing the action with the magazine removed unless you are out of state or you have proper state permits. Permanence is not an element of the law, but dissembly of the action is. Undoubtedly the action is separated when the firing pin is separated from the hammer. The state rewrote the law to make this distinction, and we are simply complying with it. Of course no one says that you need to remove the magazine at all. It can be loaded by hand or with a stripper clip, closed, and put back in action. |
