I grew up near national forest and always went with my father and brothers. I've been stationed in California for a few years now and have a few kids of my own. so now I'm looking to take my 7 year old shooting. However, It always seems a bit hard to do in the local ranges so I'm trying to find some other options that maybe you guys know of in the area. Any ideas?

Thanks

It's a drive, but I go out on BLM land south of ocotillo wells.

South on split mountain road left at railroad tracks. The 1st few hundred meters is still state park land posted for no shooting. After that it's BLM land.  Park along the railroad tracks. Shoot towards mountains toward the south.

It's a bit too hot for my taste now, but later in the year it's more pleasant. Take something for shade and lots of water.

It's a good area for camping and shooting. And 4x4ing.
