That aircraft carrier floating on the city side in the bay is the MIDWAY. I think it is 10 bucks.
There is a WWII museum in Balboa Park as well. Enjoy your visit here! |

There is or was a small museum on MCRD.
Also, there used to be a little bit about the Cost Defense stuff up on Point Loma at the Cabrillo National Monument. But it's worth the trip up there in any case for the view. |

Cabrillo Monument Definitely worth the trip for the view. |

But it's worth the trip up there in any case for the view. For its size, the one at MCRD is pretty cool. There is an "arms room" on the second deck that has a bunch of interesting weapons in it. Camp Pendleton has or had one too along with armored vehicles on outdoor displays. When MCAS El Toro shut down, they moved all the "planes on a stick" down to MCAS Miramar and the aviation museum also. |
