IIRC, you used to be able to sell used handguns in California, even if the firearm was not on the list of safety-approved handguns.  Is that changing?  Can an individual bring a used handgun(s) into California and then legally sell them?

Coming from an out of state resident, new or used, the gun has to be rostered. Non-rostered, used is okay as long as both buyer and seller are CA residents.

Someone moving into CA  as a new resident can bring non-rostered guns with them, register them, then sell them to another resident.

Thank you for the info.  I wasn't sure how that worked.

So, in-State used handguns types that are non-rostered would be a premium product, if you are interested in that product.

It is a matter of time before this handgun "safety" roster is over-turned.  In the first place, it restrains trade.  It also places an unreasonable restraint on the 2A rights of Californians - the roster is ever-increasingly populated by expensive handguns.

What is changing in Jan 1 is the Single Shot Exemption, which is a legal workaround to the roster. Until Jan 1, just about any handgun can be converted to a single shot, then sold to a resident who can then convert it back to normal configuration and operation. The workaround got on the radar of some legislators who successfully passed legislation modifying to law to prohibit the SSE from being used to sell "converted" semi-auto handguns. After Jan 1, the firearm has to be manufactured as a "single shot" to be exempt from the roster.

After Jan 1, non-rostered, legally owned handguns in CA, especially new models, will triple in value on the CA market.
