I apologize if this has been discussed elsewhere, I just have a question regarding the SSE. Is it legal for me, a private citizen, to convert a pistol that was purchased and SSE'd back to its original configuration? I know the magazine law will still apply and all that, but I can't find anything definitive that says I'm legally allowed to convert the pistol back to being a normal semi-auto.

Yes it is perfectly legal. The roster limits what an FFL can sell you, and why we use the SSE to get around off-roster guns. There are no laws restricting an individual from changing a handgun in one legal configuration to any other legal configuration. Remember laws only tell you what you can't do, so not finding anything is a good thing.

Plenty more info on CalGuns though if you want to read more:

Thanks! Wish I would've asked this sooner as the SSE is going away pretty soon.

There is still time to get 4 off-roster handguns before the end of the year. It's more of a money thing for me.

If there is nothing saying it is ILLEGAL then it is LEGAL.
