I read an article in the August 2014 issue of Western Shooting Journal about Chief Jacqueline A. Seabrooks of Santa Monica PD.
Since it is a shooting mag I assumed it would say she is pro gun or something, but I noticed they never touched on her political views...at all. Does anybody know if she is dem or rep? Pro or anti 2A?

ETA: I just think it would be really odd if they did an article on an anti 2A person.

In Santa Monica, if she is anything other than a left wing socialist or an out-and-out communist, I will be FLOORED.

Pro-2A = not possible in Santa Monica (but see above).

I could be entirely wrong but would require objective proof to the contrary.

Jacqueline A. Seabrooks, Chief of Police

Chief Jacqueline A. Seabrooks has more than three decades of progressively responsible municipal policing experience.  As of May 29, 2012, she rejoined the Santa Monica Police Department as its 17th Chief of Police.  Chief Seabrooks' career in municipal law enforcement began when she joined the Santa Monica Police Department in 1982 after spending slightly more than a year as a police officer with the California State Police Division's Los Angeles Office.  During her 24 years with the Santa Monica Police Department, Chief Seabrooks served as a patrol officer, background investigator, and academy drill instructor.  In 1990, she was the first woman to promote to the rank of Police Sergeant; she continued this trend of firsts as she promoted to rank of Police Lieutenant in 1997; and Police Captain in 2001.  And in a nod toward things to come, Chief Seabrooks served as the Department's interim Chief of Police during a leadership transition.  From October 2007 through May 2012, Chief Seabrooks was at the helm of the Inglewood Police Department.  Again, she was the first woman to hold the top executive position in that organization's 100 plus year history.  During her tenure with the City of Inglewood, Chief Seabrooks provided effective transformational leadership as the organization successfully navigated various financial, personnel, and other internal challenges, to include an investigation by the U.S. Justice Department.  Under her leadership, the City of Inglewood's crime rates declined to levels not seen since the mid 1970's; the Department's risk management profile improved substantially; and the Department strengthened its relationship with the community.


Chief Seabrooks brings a balanced wealth of knowledge and experience to Santa Monica.  She is a contemporary, skilled leader whose effectiveness is buttressed by a commitment to educational enrichment. Chief Seabrooks was instrumental in developing and implementing a cultural competencies curriculum in the Santa Monica Police Department.  As a result of her efforts, aspects of that curriculum were adopted by the Museum of Tolerance (Los Angeles) which continues to enjoy strong, long-term support for its law enforcement programs.  Chief Seabrooks has taught law enforcement audiences across the country; provided recruit training at the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Academy; and she continues to address police executives and others on topics including leadership, crisis communication, and risk management.

Chief Seabrooks holds both Masters and Bachelor's degrees in Public Policy and Administration from CSU, Long Beach and CSU, Dominguez Hills respectively.  She is a graduate of the FBI's Law Enforcement Executive Development Seminar (Session 75) and National Academy (Session 186), Boston University's Senior Management Institute for Police, and the California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Supervisory Leadership Institute. Chief Seabrooks has also served as an adjunct faculty member at area colleges where she provided instruction on an array of Criminal Justice topics.  Chief Seabrooks holds a POST Executive Certificate.  She is a member of various professional organizations.  She is a long-term supporter of those activities which empower youth by enhancing their experiential opportunities.  Chief Seabrooks is involved with the Santa Monica Police Activities League (SM PAL); she serves on the Boards of Directors for the Santa Monica Boys & Girls Club and the Human Relations Council.

Chief Seabrooks is delighted to once again work alongside the men and women of the Santa Monica Police Department on behalf of this community.
