THE IMAGE ABOVE IS A PAID ADVERTISEMENT So far we've been going to a spot off the 14 fwy just north of Mojave, CA. BLM land, but... can't have campfires there. Are there any other places we could try where you can camp with campfires and target shoot close-ish (<150miles) to LA? |

Couldn't build a fire on BLM property?
Very odd. I go out to the desert between Barstow and Victorville near Bell Mountain to the east of the 215 freeway in an area called Iron Mountain. The BLM will give you the map to show the designated area for shooting. |

Not in this spot, no. It's posted on the drive in.
Thanks Paul. That's the one other area I was thinking about. I think i have a BLM map for all the areas in San Bernandino County |

We go to Hodge rd just south of barstow. You can camp on the east side of the 15 fwy and ride ATVs. on the west side is all the shooting you want. Just don't bring anything illegal. There are rangers there patroling and listening for long 30 clip fire and automatic fire.Best of both worlds.

I can't send anymore post with my phone because it's always wrong...
The fire containment needs to be a pit... not a whole in the ground or rocks surrounding the fire. something that you can place a lid on. I use a old washer machine tub... the inside... I have a piece of sheet metal that has holes in it so I can use it as a lid. But the last time I was out in Rosamond shooting I saw a fire that was left behind from the night before... so maybe you don't need a pit out there... I'll double check with the ranger next time in out there. Might be this weekend. |

Isn't Rosamond still in LA county? I always thought the county line was closer to the underside of the 57 highway.

Do you shoot at rattlesnake road or?? I often shoot out at north edwards. The last few years I shot out at Backus Rd. but they have been building weather stations out there for new solar projects so I have been looking for a new spot to shoot
