Texas: Austin School District Approves Curriculum Giving Graphic Sex Tips to Kids
A powerful school board governing the entire city of Austin, TX has approved new sexual education standards that detractors are calling a “dream scenario for pedophiles.” It is set to teach kids that there are 50 genders, give instructions on how to apply condoms for sex acts, and offer tips on how to perform graphic sexual positions. View Quote One page from the new sex ed standards will give children tips about the best way to have anal sex. It tells children to eschew myths about anal sex, and that “if you get ready the right way, it doesn’t need to hurt and won’t cause health issues,” adding that “many people enjoy it!” View Quote Source |

Texas: Judge Halts Border Wall to Protect Butterflies
A Texas judge has halted the construction of a private border wall in order to prevent “imminent and irreparable harm” to a butterfly sanctuary. View Quote We Build The Wall is an enterprise set up to build a private border wall funded by ordinary citizens, so the southern border can be secured even faster. Along with their presence in Texas, they have also been constructing barriers in Sunland Park in New Mexico. This has, of course, drawn the ire of the left, and they are attempting to shut them down with false claims of environmentalism. View Quote I also seriously doubt that a border wall only several feet wide could have such a detrimental impact on our environment anyway. It’s not as if the entire area is going to be converted into miles and miles of concrete parking lots or something similar! These leftists are simply using the environment as a mask to drive their agenda of mass migration, and I, for one, will not stand for it. View Quote Source |

Colorado: Whole series of new Gun Laws.
Colorado Democrats are poised to make a bid for stricter gun policies during the 2020 legislative session.
The move follows the passage of a so-called ‘red flag’ gun law in 2019 that allows a court to temporarily remove firearms from someone who might be at risk of harming themselves or others. The new law goes into effect on January 1. View Quote Gun control bills have been politically controversial in Colorado. Back in 2013, two Democratic state senators were recalled over their support of universal background checks and a ban on high capacity magazines. Sullivan faced an attempted recall effort after his first legislative session. Opponents cited his sponsorship of the red flag law, even though it was what he campaigned on. View Quote |

Colorado: First Graders Ordered to Decorate Muslim Prayer Rugs
Just weeks before Christmas, first-grade students at a school in Aurora, Colorado, learned all about the Islamic holy day Ramadan, which commemorates the first supposed revelations given to the Muslim prophet Muhammad. But they learned nothing about Christmas.
As part of the lesson, the first-grade students at the tax-funded school were ordered to decorate Islamic prayer rugs and learn about the Muslim deity while studying the significance of Ramadan. Worksheets handed out to children described the Islamic deity as “most merciful” and “most gracious.” One of the worksheets, created by “Raki's Rad Resources,” instructs children that “two symbols of Ramadan are the crescent moon and the star.” The students, aged between 5- and 7-years old, are then instructed to “design and color this [Islamic] prayer rug using a crescent moon. Minnesota: Declares climate emergency.
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Minneapolis declared a climate emergency Friday, demanding a mobilization to address the causes and consequences of climate change. The declaration recognizes climate change as already affecting people’s lives, health, access to food and shelter with extreme weather and other destructive effects in Minnesota and worldwide.
“Climate change is impacting everything from our ability to put food on the table to what Minneapolis residents pay for infrastructure repairs,” said Mayor Jacob Frey. “By declaring a climate emergency, our city officially recognizes the severity of the climate crisis and challenges us as policymakers to take stronger climate action.” With this declaration, the city commits to establishing a “social cost of carbon:” a scientific, monetary measurement of greenhouse gas emissions’ damages to human health, food production, homes, businesses, and energy costs. The city will also establish a Sustainable Building Policy to ensure buildings constructed with help from the city are as energy efficient as possible. View Quote Funny how the solution to climate change is more government regulation and taxes. |

Virginia: Wants "Commonsense" Gun Control
Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam (D) is promising to reintroduce a slate of "commonsense" gun control measures after Democrats gained control of both houses of the General Assembly for the first time since 1994.
Northam said on CNN's "New Day" early Wednesday morning that he planned to reintroduce a package of laws addressing gun violence during the next legislative session. "Things like universal background checks. Getting rid of bump stocks, high volume magazines, 'red flag' laws. These are commonsense pieces of legislation," he said. "I will introduce those again in January. And I'm convinced, with the majority now in the House and the Senate, they'll become law and because of that Virginia will be safer." View Quote “Since I took office two years ago, we have made historic progress as a Commonwealth," he added. "Tonight, Virginians made it clear they want us to continue building on that progress."
The governor went on to argue that the results signaled that voters wanted state lawmakers to take action on issues such as gun safety and climate change. View Quote Gun control became a major theme for Democrats running in Tuesday's elections. Everytown for Gun Safety, the group funded by former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, committed to spending $2.5 million on Democratic candidates ahead of the vote. John Feinblatt, president of the group, said in a statement that the Democrats' victories would "resonate around the country, and should terrify elected officials up and down the ballot who have stood in the way of gun safety.” View Quote Source ETA: I'm glad to see the hue and cry in the GD as the east coast members have finally awaken from their slumber. |

Pennsylvania: Classifies an 80 percent receiver as Firearms
An "80 percent receiver" is an unfinished receiver. It still requires several additional holes to become a functioning receiver. Right now the purchase of an 80 percent receiver doesn't require a background check, but the Attorney General's ruling would change that. The legal opinion reclassifies the 80 percent receiver as a firearm.
"All we're doing is bringing the gun laws up to speed with what is happening in the real world," said Gov. Tom Wolf at a press conference. The problem with do-it-yourself firearms, authorities said, is that they allow people to get guns without going through a background check, resulting in the guns falling into the wrong hands. View Quote From now on, law enforcement will treat 80 percent receivers as firearms. If a person who isn't allowed to own firearms is found with an 80 percent receiver, they can be criminally charged. The new rule goes into effect immediately, but the Attorney General is leaving implementation to the Pennsylvania State Police. View Quote Source |

Kentucky: 140,000 Felons Voting Right Restored.
Kentucky’s newly elected Democratic governor restored the right to vote to more than 140,000 convicted felons who have completed their sentences.
Gov. Andy Beshear signed an executive order Thursday granting people with nonviolent felonies the right to vote and hold public office. "I believe in the law," Beshear said. "I also believe in redemption, in second chances." “We’re talking about moms and dads, neighbors and friends, people who have met and taken on one of the greatest challenges anyone can face: overcoming the past,” he said. “It is an injustice that their ability to rejoin society by casting a vote on Election Day is automatically denied.” View Quote Kentucky’s constitution denies felons the right to vote but allows the governor to restore that right. The governor’s executive order effectively revives a similar one that his father, former Gov. Steve Beshear, signed in 2015. Matt Bevin, his Republican successor who narrowly lost reelection last month, revoked the order. View Quote The General Discussion would have exploded. Not a peep I've seen in the GD about Kentucky. Washington state: Wants to ban sale of 'assault weapons,' high capacity magazines.
The state of Washington on Thursday proposed bans on the sale of “assault weapons” and high capacity magazines, part of a package of gun laws meant to address a rising wave of U.S. mass shootings.
If successful, Washington would become the seventh U.S. state to ban assault weapons, which it defines as semi-automatic rifles with at least one military feature, and the ninth to limit the capacity of ammunition magazines. View Quote |

New Jersey: Law Requires $50,000 worth of Insurance for Gun Owners
Introduced in November, A-6003 sponsored by Patricia Egan Jones (D-5) mandates that each New Jersey gun owner obtain a minimum of $50,000 in liability insurance at the time of purchase. A first offense carries a $1,000 fine. Second or subsequent violations can come with a $5,000 fine and revocation of the right to carry/purchase firearms for a period of five years. Owners not carrying proof of insurance run the risk of having their firearms confiscated by law enforcement. Virginia: The "intent" to own a firearm with more than 7 rounds can soon make you a felon
In the ongoing chess match between good and evil, the citizenry of Virginia (the good) seem to have the upper hand (the U.S. Constitution) over Governor Northam, his AG Mark Herring and the Democrat-led General Assembly (the evil).
The Virginia Citizens Defense League is taking the state-level elected officials to task over the push to ban and confiscate practically every weapon in the Commonwealth. Two pieces of legislation have been pre-filed for the 2020 session. They’ll be taken up after the new politicians are sworn in on January 8th, creating a shift in power and putting the Democrats in that state in the driver’s seat. Two major parts of proposed new laws are: If a gun, (pistol, rifle or shotgun) CAN accept a Magazine over 7 or 10, the weapon is deemed an assault weapon and is therefore illegal. You do not have to be in possession of the magazine or even have it in the weapon. The second part is a bill seeking to criminalize the intention to do something, NOT the doing or planning, but the “Intention”. View Quote “A semi-automatic, centerfire, firearm equipped with a folding stock, or equipped at the time with a magazine capable of holding more than 20 rounds, or capable of accommodating a silencer/suppressor.” View Quote “Any person who sells, barters, gives or furnishes, or has in his possession or under his control with the intent of selling, bartering, giving or furnishing, any firearm to any person he knows is prohibited from possessing or transporting a firearm pursuant to 18.2-308.1:1, 18.2-308.1:2, 18.2-308.1:3, 18.2-308.2, 18.2-308.2:01, or 18.2-308.7 is guilty of a Class 4 felony. Nevada: Sheriff: I might not like the law, but I'll still confiscate your guns.
Voters: We're coming for your badge. HUMBOLDT COUNTY, NV- In the latest surge of Red Flag laws versus 2nd Amendment Sanctuary city/counties, we need to point your attention towards northern Nevada.
Humboldt County has a population of only 17,000 people and covers almost 10,000 square miles. But regardless of its small size, it could be playing a huge role in shaping the argument across the national landscape. Law Enforcement Today spoke with multiple sources familiar with the circumstances. Several people in the county seat of Winnemucca are leading the effort to recall Humboldt County Sheriff Mike Allen. The recall effort against Allen is simple. His constituents say he will not protect them against unconstitutional laws that seek to circumvent an individual’s rights provided by the 2nd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 10th and 14th Amendments. Allen states that while he opposes those laws, it is his job to enforce them. Of the 17 county sheriffs in Nevada, 13 have declared that they will not enforce them. Allen is the only one in the northern portion of the state that has said he will comply with the orders. View Quote Source |

Washington: Wants Gun, Mag Bans, And Ammo Background Checks
Washington Governor Jay Inslee is throwing his weight behind a package of gun control bills that could ban virtually every semi-automatic rifle sold in the United States, magazines that can accept more than ten rounds of ammunition, and a requirement that every sale of ammunition go through a background check.
According to the Kitsap Sun, the package has both Senate and House sponsors lined up, and with the governor’s backing, there will be a great deal of political pressure on rural Democrats to fall in line. [Attorney General Bob] Ferguson and Inslee want to limit magazines to 10 rounds in Washington state. The bill makes exceptions for law enforcement, military and recreational shooting ranges. They also want to ban the sale of “assault weapons,” which are defined as semi-automatic guns that contain at least one military-style feature. The measure allows for the possession of grandfathered weapons that were purchased before the effective date of the bill. Sen. Patty Kuderer, D-Bellevue, will be the main sponsor of the bill in the Senate, and Rep. Javier Valdez, D-Seattle, will carry the measure in the House. “On banning the sale of assault weapons, I’ll be candid: It’s going to be a challenge,” Ferguson said. “We’ve seen that the people are ahead of the politicians on this. I’ll keep fighting for it, because it’s the right thing to do.” View Quote |

Virginia: Six More Laws Proposed.
House Bill 2 and House Bill 335 are both “universal background check” bills that criminalize private transfers of firearms, with only a few exceptions. Most common transfers between friends and neighbors are not exempted. House Bill 9 is a “lost or stolen” bill that turns gun owners into criminals if they don’t report a lost or stolen firearm within 24 hours of discovering them missing by fining them. Supposedly this is supposed to cut down on “straw purchases,” but lawmakers who support the measure haven’t been able to explain how, exactly, the bill would work in practice. House Bill 421 allows local governments to enact their own gun control ordinances, which would likely result in restrictive and unconstitutional policies being adopted in northern Virginia and other Democrat strongholds of the state. House Bill 72, House Bill 463, and House Bill 1083, according to NRA, “severely restrict parental decisions about firearms in the home while attaching excessive penalties for violations.” Under these bills, it would be a crime for a parent to allow their 16-year old to hunt on the family’s property without direct adult supervision, or for parents to allow their 17-year old daughter access to a firearm for self-defense while she was home alone, no matter how much training the teens might have. House Bill 674 is [another piece of] “red flag” legislation allowing the seizure of an individual’s firearms based on a low standard of review and without any opportunity for the subject of the Extreme Risk Protection Order to be present at the hearing or to offer their own side of the story before the temporary order is issued. House Bill 812 and House Bill 1502 are gun rationing bills that limit an individual’s ability to purchase a handgun to one every 30 days. View Quote Source |

North Carolina: Country chairwoman threatens to call the police on anyone who recites the pledge of allegiance.
Elizabethtown, North Carolina — Democrat Louella Thompson is the chairwoman of the Bladen County Board of Elections. She was appointed to that position when word of possible election fraud was raised. But the board voted along party lines not to include the Pledge of Allegiance, and at the end of the meeting, citizens stood and recited it anyway on Jan 15. Thompson called it a “disruption” and threatened to call the police on anyone who recited it. That did not go over well.
Thompson and another Democrat member of the Bladen County board have been admonished in the past by the State Elections Board for social media posts that Republicans stated disparaged the President. It appears their disdain for America includes the flag. Oh, and by the way, the flag was improperly placed directly behind Thompson’s seat instead of to the right of it. View Quote |

Georgia: Residents Attack and Damage Vietnam Veterans Memorial
For years, a copy of the Vietnam Memorial Wall in Washington, D.C. has traveled around the country and set up in places where people who might never be able to get to D.C. could visit it and maybe get some healing and closure. One of those traveling walls was recently given a permanent home in John’s Creek, Georgia. The John’s Creek Veterans Association has been working on the set up of the permanent memorial since last July, and was going to have a Grand Opening celebration on March 28, 2020, but the coronavirus pandemic put the kibosh on that with the social distancing and stay at home requirements that were necessary to help control the spread of this deadly virus. The Association was shocked recently to find that vandals had keyed about half of the panels of the installation and had taken a hammer to some of the other panels. Such behavior is beyond contempt. Texas is being criticized by public-health experts for mixing up their test data, producing far more impressive Covid-19 numbers
Texas, Virginia, and Vermont have been accused of presenting their coronavirus data in misleading ways that inflate the scale of their testing programs while making it impossible to identify the latest trends. The Associated Press reported that officials in Virginia, Texas, and Vermont had acknowledged combining the figures for two separate types of tests. The first was the test for finding whether people were currently infected with the coronavirus; the second was the one looking for antibodies, which are found in people who had the virus but are no longer sick. Combining the two results could help shed light on the total number of infections (assuming people are not double-counted) but makes it harder for officials to make informed decisions about easing restrictions based on the latest number of active infections. View Quote Eliminates the mandatory minimum term of confinement for an assault and battery committed against a judge; magistrate; law-enforcement officer; correctional officer; person directly involved in the care, treatment, or supervision of inmates; firefighter; or volunteer firefighter or any emergency medical services personnel and provides that such crime can no longer be committed as a simple assault and must result in a bodily injury. New Jersey, New York lose the most movers to other states in 2020, study shows. Not California.
The country’s highest-taxed states lost the largest number of residents in 2020, at a time when remote work provided opportunities for people to relocate. New Jersey had the most outbound moves for the third year in a row. About 70% of movers left the state, according to new data from moving company United Van Lines. New York and Illinois trailed New Jersey, with 67% of movers leaving both states. They were followed by Connecticut (63%) and California (59%). Four of these states ranked among the top 10 in a recent study of those with the greatest tax burdens in 2020. California was ranked at 13 and New York ranked at No. 1. California data showed that 135,600 more people left the state than moved in, marking the third-largest migration loss in the state’s history. View Quote This is where the math challenged idiots in the General Discussion fail. If 135K people is the 3rd largest migration loss that's a tiny number of 0.3% divided among the other 49 states means any one state is getting thousands of people. If thousands of people flip your state of millions the problems aren't with the immigrants. Source |
