THE IMAGE ABOVE IS A PAID ADVERTISEMENT Google Earth can be downloaded from here: Google Earth program download link For those that haven't used GE (Google Earth), it is a mapping program utilizing satelite photos. It has many neat features, which include 3D elevation & GPS coordinates. You can use it just like MapQuest, Yahoo Maps, etc.. to get directions. =============================== PLEASE feel free to ADD any new shooting facility or shooting area: other indoor ranges, outdoor ranges, and your favorite desert/mountain spots to shoot that are legal. If you are marking an outdoor shooting spot that isn't a range, please try to include BLM or US Forestry links showing that shooting area is an authorized shooting spot. I will try to incorporate the updated placemarks and NEW locations onto a master (*.kmz) file. I will try to incorporate the updated placemarks and NEW locations onto a master (*.kmz) file. ============================ There is a couple of ways you can help with updating the master file. * You can post the GPS coordinates & info on this thread and I can manually input them onto the master file. * You can SAVE (File => Save As...) your Placemarks as a *.kmz file and then host or email the file to me. I will then import them into the master file. To get the GPS coordinates. Put a Placemarks onto the spot your trying to mark on Google Earth. Try to be as accurate as possible. There are several ways on placing a Placemarks. Click the thumbtack pin on the lower right or [CTRL] + N : To insert a new Placemark. You then have Name & Description field you can fill. Click OK to place the pin. You can right-click the Placemarks to move the pin or edit the info. If you click the "Advanced" check box, you will see a "Location" tab that will have the GPS coordinates. I've been able to update the file. Now at Ver 0.03
It has over 60+ placemarks in SOCAL. Removed link, so that I only have to update the first post, anytime there is an update. First post will have the most recent version of the Google Earth file. Paul, roger that, I already expanded into San Diego area. Creeping up north slowly... Google Earth will allow you to load multiple KMZ files. Each state can have their own KMZ file. I'm still checking search engines to find more shooting ranges and locations. Entering their locations into the file as I find ones that I don't already have. photog - added Bishop Gun Club.. Eric, affirmative. I do have that indoor range in the database. But, as with most of the indoor ranges that I haven't been to. I just have the placemark in the gerneral location. If you know the exact building that the range resides in, I'd appreciate it...if you can help me place the placemark flag more accurately.  |

Do I have the right building now?  Please check out the other indoor ranges I have in the Google file, that you may have visited. I haven't been to any of the indoor ranges I listed in the LA & Ventura counties. thanks for your help.  |

I've got most of the shooting ranges that I can find via goodle search. I didn't bother with some of the Private ranges, even though I marked quite a few already.
There are a lot of skeet ranges I wasn't able to find. As the're harder to spot, as they're smaller than the rifle ranges. A lot of the outdoor ranges are using P.O. Boxes as addressses, so it's really hard to find those. Need some help finding those unregulated BLM & US Forestry target shooting spots. So, help out some fellow Cali shooters and fess up to your secret spots. |

I just checked out Chabot on Google Earth. The satellite caught everyone walking out for a target change.
