So my Uncle is having his 70th birthday and I am thinking about getting him a shield.  Since I am an out of state resident I know I have to transfer it to him. just curious on what I should expect to pay to get it transferred. are their any fees other than the transfer or does florida charge for the background check also?

It would be around cape coral/ft myers area

On average, I've seen anywhere from $25-$50 depending on the FFL and yes, your uncle has to pay for the background check and fill out the 4473. I'd say call around to see what dealers charge but, I'm sure some will chime in for recommendations.

I have used Rook Arms in the cape for several items, mostly NFA.  I think he charges $20 for transfers but that was last year so it may be different now.  Don't have his number handy but you can find him on the Google machine.
