I hate jacks with a passion after fishing in Tampa area for 50 + years...No table value and will take your lure or hooks and wreck the reel and bust up the rod.
That said if I have out of towners on board and see jacks busting up the surface ...it is a gold mine...they love the action. In the canal I live on you can hear them moving down the canal blowing up baits near the shore line... just for grins I will toss out a plug with no hooks just to see plugs tossed up in the air... many times I thought I had the big snook on just to see that it did not break surface in the first ten seconds a know it's a frigging jack....
