Heading back from St. Augustine. Had a fun vacation with the inlaws. We went offshore fishing (only second time I've gone.)

We all caught some fish but the wife took home the trophy

I've caught shit ton of Jack Crevalle but I damn near shat my pants when she pulled this in.

The rest of our catch.

That must have been one hell of a fun fight.  What did they do with it?  Not known as great table fare.

The charter wanted to keep it for bait. With how tough it is I guess it stays on the hook pretty damn well.

Shame that they did not put you onto any Kingfish - they are fun to catch!

I charter out of St. Augustine and the king bite has been hot and cold the past two weeks. The inshore bite has been strong for me.

I hate jacks with a passion after fishing in Tampa area for 50 + years...No table value and will take your lure or hooks and wreck the reel and bust up the rod.

That said if I have out of towners on board and see jacks busting up the surface ...it is a gold mine...they love the action.

In the canal I live on you can hear them moving down the canal blowing up baits near the shore line... just for grins I will toss out a plug with no hooks just to see plugs tossed up in the air... many times I thought I had the big snook on just to see that it did not break surface in the first ten seconds a know it's a frigging jack....

She was worried she would lose grip on the pole but she managed. A fighting belt would've made a hell of a difference though.

Great Capt.!!!!!
He was pretty cool. Took us to some spots where we would catch smaller things immediately then moved us out to catch bigger shit.

It's good to have a picture.

If she went on with a story about a fish *this* big most people would probably brush it off.
