Need some suggestions of ranges with more than 200 yards of distance to shoot at.

I'm in Citrus County, willing to drive 3-4 hours or possibly more to shoot. I might even make a weekend out of it and take a longer trip, so anywhere in the state or South Georgia/Alabama would be fair game. I'd like to try my hand at shooting between 600-1000 yards. I previously had access to private property that had about 400-500 yards worth of clear, open land with a big backstop, but that cease to be a possibility for me when my friend moved to New York.

Obligatory pics of rifles

I think their web site is a little misleading, they have steel at 500 yards and 1000 yards nothing in-between.    You can  put out paper targets at 100,200,300,400 and 500.

The 500 yards gongs are at 565 actually also.

I was aware of Manatee, but I thought they were having some sort of legal issues currently? Maybe I need to re-check on that, it's been a while since I did any research on them.

They do, but it's only open like three days a month and they never seem to be when I'm off work... plus 200 isn't exactly challenging when even a fucktard like me can shoot 1/2 inch groups at 100 with ease with that bolt gun

Manatee is a nice range but with the drive time parameter you listed, you could also head Northeast, up to Bradford Sportsman Farm.

Been a while since I've been there but it's a nice facility with a 850yd rifle range.

BSF

YES! I couldn't remember what the name of the other one I had found was.

I'll have to check into the qualification class to shoot on their 850 yard range, but that seems pretty good. For the number of times I would go, the non-member rate would be palatable.

There is an 800 yard range at Saltwater's NE in St. Augustine.

You can find that on the web - like most long range ranges - you have to prove that you can keep your bullets on the range.....

I hope that helps,

Red

Manatee is past it's legal issues for the most part, it's a fun place to shoot long distance.

yep have shot there before  You have to get qualified to use the 850, the third saturday of the month is the qualifying day. Contact Josh and he will set it up for you.. Oh you have to bring your own targets and target stand.

Awesome, thanks for the info. I'm going to stop by the gun shop today and see if they have more Black Hills before this weekend... hoping I can get my Dad out to the range tomorrow or Sunday in the morning for a few hours and go have some fun. I haven't gone shooting since Mother's Day (time before that was God knows how long ago) and he hasn't been in several years.

I'll be hitting MCGC tomorrow for their 600y gong match.  Not a member, but I make a trip every now and then.  Good range with pretty good staff.

Just got back.  This was the second 600y gong shoot I've done.  The first was pretty much a benchrest gun comp.  This was all ARs with the exception of my 223 bolt gun.  Good times.

Hmmm, sounds like the 500 yard gongs are actually at 500 meters!  (actually 500 meters = 547 yards)

Not sure how long it's been since reelserious has bene to the range, but the "565" berm is now 600 yards.  Years ago it was 565y.

There are target stands at 100, 200, 300, 400, and at the 600y berm.  There is a mini-berm somewhere between 450-500y (can't remember exactly), but no target stands regularly posted there.

There is a target stand gap between 600y and 1000y, but occasionally you can get permission to post a stand at some interval between them.  I haven't driven past 600y in a while, but there used to be small markers at intervals between 600y and 1000y.

I was reading about 26 Nosler as I'm building myself a short action rifle at the moment.   Crazy velocities on the round and it looks very accurate.
