I need a quick answer to this. What are current Florida knife laws? I realize I could check online, but that isn't always up to date (most places are not accurate for TN).

Are butterfly knives legal to possess/carry in Florida?

I am pretty sure, it depends on the city.  No state preemption on knife laws.

there might be some restrictions in Miami-Dade.  I believe that pertains to automatics as well

The only knife that can be carried concealed without a CWFL, is a "common pocket" knife defined by case law, as a folding knife under 4 inches.

(13) “Weapon” means any dirk, knife, metallic knuckles, slungshot, billie, tear gas gun, chemical weapon or device, or other deadly weapon except a firearm or a common pocketknife, plastic knife, or blunt-bladed table knife.

What about:
(3)(a) “Concealed weapon” means any dirk, metallic knuckles, slungshot, billie, tear gas gun, chemical weapon or device, or other deadly weapon carried on or about a person in such a manner as to conceal the weapon from the ordinary sight of another person.

Which does not include the word knife.

790.01 uses the phrase 'concealed weapon'. Does that mean a concealed Weapon as defined in (13) or does it mean a Concealed Weapon as defined in (3)(a)?

It is a pleasure to discuss the finer points of the law with you again brboyer.  It has been a long time.

You of course are more correct; if one is willing to accept beating the rap, but not beating the ride.
