The beaches...not much else to see on AMI. Spend an afternoon walking around the shops and old jail then dinner at the Sandbar, or at least drinks there for sunset. Maybe a trip down to St Armands to kill part of a day (and much of your $$$).
It's a beautiful place to go and relax and just 'get away' but not a lot of must see stuff there IMO. |

Things to see/do on AMI-
The beach The Rod & Reel pier The "City" pier The shops on Pine Ave The Anna Maria Historical Museum The shops on Bridge Street The Bradenton Beach pier Coquina Baywalk Stand up paddle boarding Para sailing You can rent bikes and scooters at several places on the island. Further south (in Sarasota) there's Mote Marine Aquarium and the Ringling Museum/Ca' d'Zan. |

Thank you for the replies.
The place we are looking at staying is near the North end of the island. How is the fishing in late July? I know it is a little late for tarpon but should I rent a boat or charter someone? What about golfcart rentals? Do most of the businesses have golfcart parking? Thanks again |

Fishing should be pretty fair. Tarpon will be fewer and further between but still around. Beach snook should be red hot in the early AM/PM around the passes although season is closed.
If you want to hire a guide, I can recommend either Capt. Logan Bystrom or Capt Justin Moore (son of my good friend and snook fishing guru Capt Scott Moore). They're two young guns on the rise to fishing stardom. There are a couple of cart rental places as well, cost is about $100 a day. Your rental agent may be able to get you a better deal though. Parking in general, especially in the city of Anna Maria is a freakin' nightmare. But yeah, you can park carts at all the businesses. |
