I just got home from the hospital after having a umbilical hernia repaired and the surgeon and anesthesiologist  were so good that I feel like a million bucks right after the surgery.

My injury actually was gun related and due to my own carelessness.

A few months ago I picked up my  heavy range bag in a very careless manner and "popped" my umbilical and gave myself a hernia.

I just heaved it up in the air and swung it up in an arc to "throw" into my Santa Fe, rather than picking it up properly and that's how I injured myself.

Another "firearms related injury"; I'm a damned statistic now.

Looks like I won't be getting back to shooting at Shoot Straight for about a week and when I do, I'll need to lighten my range bag quite a bit.

Or......have my wife carry it for me.

Seriously, we older guys need to remember our age sometimes and be careful regardless of how young we feel.

Glad I'm not the only one, though mine was from lifting a case of 45acp . Couple weeks and you'll be as good as you was before.

Yet another firearms related accident.

Thanks for the well wishes.

I hope you mend quickly.

A reminder about why I carry two range bags - even weight distribution I think. But also means I could do the same, in stereo.

Get well soon!

I have a very minor umbilical hernia, not an issue yet, my Doc keeps an eye on it.

Gotta remember to be careful, thanks for the reminder.

Sucks getting old!

On the other hand, I did get 10 % off lunch today, making the wife roll her eyes......

Thanks, I'm doing very well so far.

Two range bags is a very good idea.

Hopefully I'll be able to return to the range in a few days.........as soon as my wife says I can.

When going to the range is like moving into a new home.

Glad to hear you are doing well.

Sorry to hear about that but I'll be glad to relieve you of some of those burdensome guns, ammo and related items!

I'm recovering from a knee replacement.  Damm, it sucks to get old!

Sorry to hear about that AF, but it's good to know that you're recovering.

The most difficult part of aging for me has been convincing myself to accept my limitations.  My mind says "go", my body says "slow".

A couple of trips to the ER for my back has finally convinced me to slow down, proceed smarter, not harder.

Hope you have a full recovery my friend, so you can get back to what you enjoy.

Thank you so much for your kind wishes.

You're right, I do need to learn to listen to my body better, I still think l'm a kid and although I'm in good shape for my age, I'm not.

Glad you're feeling better. Had a hernia when I was a kid and totally freaked out. I was pretty perplexed about what was happening to my nut sack lol.

Thanks.

The one I just had repaired was an umbilical hernia, a kind I never even  heard of before.

All I did was overload my range bag and snatch it up off the ground wrong and I feli a small pop in my navel which I didn't think about for months and months until recently it began to act hinky more frequently.

A trip to the doctor and then the surgeon.

Thankfully it was only a minor hernia but I figured I might as well get patched up before it got much worse.
