We are closing on our house tomorrow, and my wife really wants a gas cooktop in the house.
Needless to say, it is in my best interest to accomodate her in her cooking equipment wishes, as well....you know.

So, how do I go about this? Is FL plumber for natural gas to houses? Does FPL do this?

Do I need to set up a giant tank outside the house?

I have no idea where to start...

It will depend on if there is a gas line going to the area you are planning to live at. You can call the utility company to find out if a gas line can be run to your home if not then you would need to install a tank and run lines into the house.

I'm having Amerigas come take their tank out as soon as it's empty.

They hit me for $5.28/gallon last time they filled it...

If you have the option of NG do it, but if LP is your only option think twice.

I wouldn't do it unless you already have gas service available at that house. Did you see any gas powered stuff there, like a water heater, stove, fireplace or pool heater?  If it's not plumbed for gas the gas line can be pretty expensive depending on where it's going and the tank rental or purchase and it's install can be a pain. But hey, it can always be done, just a question of $

What we did is use 100 lb portable tanks and only attached to range. One tank should last about a year and current price is $85 per fill.

100lb tank equals 23.5 gal.

You will need a plumber to run lines and set tanks per code, but after that you're on your own and not married to a

gas company. Also plumber will need to change range orifice to propane instead natural gas.

You will need a truck to transport tanks for filling.

Very doable and well worth the effort.

 Have fun!

Did you check with the local NG provider?  In Clearwater, they tied in my house to the NG line and put in a Rinnai tankless water heater for 874.00 total.   We also hired a plumber to run a NG line to the kitchen for a gas range.
Hot water and stove bill runs about 30/Mo.   But the elec. bill went down 35%.

Who needs gas? Charlie can't hook you up with some pallets?
