The truck is once again street legal. I had some issues with the parking lights and turn signals. Drove it every where I could yesterday. It handles pretty well. Better than I expected. I was worried about it overheating with no fan shroud. It never got above 180f. Holding off on the bed until I fix the leaking power steering and replace the sending unit. Video coming soon.

Well hell, you could have gone to the Car Show at Bell Tower, but that would have cost you $20. You spent at least that in gas and tolls!
Here is the info that you need...http://www.larrycruisinlist-swfl.com/home.html Looks great!! |

Quoted: Well there's your problem. http://i1207.photobucket.com/albums/bb473/ironhammer45/CAM00687_zpsce66c232.jpg The truck ran like shit last Friday. Its been driven more in the last two months than the last two years. Little problems are bound to pop up. Spent the weekend giving it a tune up. New fuel filter, plugs and wires. Had to order an air filter. You think it would be easy to find big block Chevy parts locally. Had to go to 3 stores just to find a set of spark plugs. Next week, new oil and coolant. There's stuff floating in the coolant. Time for a flush. I'm also going to replace the radiator hoses, vacuum lines and delete the heater core. Later this month, the broken sending unit will be replaced and the gas tank flushed out. View Quote You hadn't done all that already??

LoL..also, might wanna do yourself a favor and pull the freeze plugs to do the flush properly, rarely does anyone do this, but it IS the proper way to clean the block out. |

Might as well go ahead and change the fuel pump out, if the fuel looked that nice the inside ( diaphragm ) of the fuel pump is just as sweet (and fuel pumps are relatively inexpensive )

I wonder if you can even buy a good North American made fuel pump any more?

Snap-on guy told me they're all made in China but to Snap-on's spec so it's fine. Fuel pumps would be from Mexico now? Just a guess. |

I was thinking the same. but believe a pressure regulator and return line would be best and would add to the cost. |

May have to go electric after all. |

Is there a Quadra junk carb on it? Don't know the exact model but its an Edelbrock 750 Looks like a Quadrajet. I am a Holley kind of guy. Holley makes good stuff, just get one thats able to deal with ethanol, thats probably where alot of that stuff in the fuel filter came from, dissolved fuel line and fuel pump diaphragm |

This is the carb I have. Edelbrock 1407
I have yet to read any negative reviews. It seems to be working fine so for now its staying. Now onto fuel pumps. I can can get a Holly mechanical For $90. It seems to be the best choice without going electric. However, I'm planning to ditch the in cab gas tank and install two 20 gallon tanks under the bed. I haven't figure out how yet but it will probably need an electric pump to work. More research is needed. Howie, I was mistaken. The AC kit runs about $1500. I think it may be a better choice than the redneck engineering we talked about. Although, I still like the on board generator idea. |

I had a 1973 3/4 ton short bed with a 454.
it had dual tanks from the factory and a switch on the dash to run one or the other. also it had a mechanical fuel pump...so the parts should be available somewhere. |
