Got the GTG letter from UF for their engineering school so it looks like I will be moving to Gainesville around the end of April. Anyone from the area have any words of advice? Im still looking for a place to stay and from the looks of it I'll be trying to get an apartment close to campus.

The general campus area has quite a bit of partying. Get at least a steel gun cabinet if you don't have a safe. Rentals in town are a lot higher than some neighboring areas. The most friendly gun shop in town is Lawful Defense. The only problem is that Glenn is open by appointment only. The only rifle range in town (to my knowledge) is Gainesville Target Range which requires you to have either a 6 month or one year membership. Let me know when you get in town and I will give you a tour. I have only been in the area for about 2 years myself.

Gainesville bus system- if you aren't on campus you want to make sure you are on a good bus route. Many students live in the 62nd blvd area behind the mall because of the reliable bus service-
your student id means you ride for free.

The following EE professors have not been folks I would take repeat classes from:

Wu
Taylor
Arroyo
Hammer - I haven't personally had him, but I've heard to avoid him from multiple people
Shea - Hes not a bad teacher, but jesus christ monkey fuck; Graduate Noise in Linear systems was the hardest shit I ever took.

You probably wont have to take any of those profs seeing as you're civil. I think the only potential would be Hammer, as he does controls type stuff.
