I'm pending as of 1/23, 1/25, and 2/17. I'm going to try my hardest to forget I have paperwork out.

Both mine went pending 11/9. Was told average wait is about 5 months now that they assigned examiners per state. I also was told that on the form 4 they are doing away with the local LEO sign off if you don't have a trust. Is there any truth to this or just BS. If it is true the wait time is gonna be like a year.

Wait times are getting longer. New applicants probably have a 6-7 month wait from pending time.

When CLEO signature requirement is lost, you're going to see that wait time get a LOT longer!

Couple of quick questions for you guys.

Does anyone have the contact info to call and check on my status? I've read on here about people getting updates and wanted to do so.

What exactly would i be asking? Do i just give them the name of the trust I used or the serial number of the item?

I submitted my first one back on August 25th and I'm getting really damn annoyed about it at this point.

Tell whomever answers that you would like to check the status of your form 1 or 4 etc.. They will ask for the serial number and the name on the form. Then they will tell you if it's pending from whatever date or if it's approved on whatever date.

Serial number and dealer its transferring from.... and if you have any other questions you better QUICKLY ask them, because as soon as they tell you your status that phone is hung up.

I called today and the woman I spoke to said mine went pending 11/21 and to look for approval mid to late May. She also stated that they are taking 6 months. Glad I'm not in

a rush.

It's honestly worse than the DC days. At one time they were working on software that would have permitted dealers and manufacturers to handle manufacturer to dealer and dealer to dealer transfers themselves leaving the dealer to non-dealer transfers to the NFA Branch. That idea got canned. Ken Houchens turned the NFA Branch around when they moved to Martinsburg. He had transfers turning around in as little as 30 days. I was able to get a transfer, a special case, turned around in 24 hours. I got to shake his hand at SHOT, he was truly the NFA owners friend. When he left, it all went down the shitter.

That's a fact.

There was another Chief after Ken (can't recall his name) and wasn't in the position long before being kicked upstairs. He is a good guy as well.

Can we start an online petition to get these times reduced by hiring more people or something? Post it on every firearms forum and try and get like 100,000 signatures to start? I think these waits are getting ridiculous and I would argue, an unfair burden in citizens looking to exercise their rights. They hold onto your money for months and months with no progress or benefit.
