Hey Guys,

PARKING

When
you arrive, please proceed around the circle drive behind the shooting
barn & drop off your gear, tables, chairs, tents, food, etc on the
tables along the circle. Drive back down the same road & park on
the West side of the swamp & walk back to your stuff & the
shooting barn.

CHECK-IN

Get briefed on layout &
procedures at the check-in table by Wes. He will go through everything
with you & have you sign a cover my butt form. Because we won't
have a set start time with everyone together at once, we plan to give
you a bracelet signifying to other Range Safety Officers that you've
signed in & are ready to shoot.

RANGE CONDITIONS:

Please
don't wear your good shoes, as it's pretty muddy from rain last night,
off & on all day today. I made the bad decision to fill in &
smooth out a few holes yesterday & the rain made a mess of it -
sorry in advance. Vehicle passage should be fine, though.

Weather Forecast is:

8:00AM ....... 41F, sunny, with wind 10mph from the North

12:00 Noon.......52F, sunny, with wind 10mph from the North

  4:00PM ....... 55F, sunny, with wind 10mph from the North,NW

AMMUNITION:

Some
folks asked me about ammo. Just to help out "those in need", I plan to
bring some of my own stash for anyone that needs any. I'm not a dealer
or looking to make a profit - I looked online for average, current
delivered prices & will ask that for mine & just re-order for
myself. I recently started reloading & would gladly take leftover
brass if you don't use it - but you are welcome to take yours.

If you need ammo I'll sell it for the following prices:

.223 Brass cased 55g FMJ = 40 cents/round = $400/1,000 =  $8.00/box (Rem/UMC, Win Q1.., Black Hills Blue Box)

.308 Brass Cased 147gFMJ= 60 cents/round = $600/1,000 = $12.00/box (South African)

9mm Brass Cased 115gFMJ=27 cants/round = $270/1,000 = 13.50/box (Win White Box, Rem UMC)

22lr - Tom is bringing about 5,000-10,000 rounds. I don't know his price

I'll look forward to meeting you all tomorrow. Please come prepared to have fun.

Thanks,

Greg

LUNCH:
I just got a commitment from a friend to smoke chicken for us & maybe a pig if I get time to shoot one.

Also, the Adam's Arms guys offered to bring chips, sodas & potatoa salad - so it sounds like lunch is covered.
If this doesn't fit with anyone's taste buds, feel free to bring your own - we'll still have a grill available.

................................
As posted in SGBs thread... There is a good deal going on for PMC .223 ammo.
http://sgcusa.com/Ammunition-Rifle/c3_28/p3675/PMC-.223-Remington-55gr-1000-Round-Case/product_info.html
................................
Ok here is what you all have been waiting for...
I have been talking with the ARFCOMer pegleggreg, and he has graciously
allowed us to use his farm for the meet-up. Here is some of the info...
The range location is about 30 minutes south of Plant City and has
a shooting distance of up to 500 yards with steel targets from 10-500
yards. The shooting area is a pole-barn type structure that is about
20'x50' with an estimated capacity of 5-10 shooters at one time, but
there is tons of room to spread out and socialize. If you have folding
tables and those easy up tents, please bring them so we can make more
shooting lanes. And, the facility also has its own bathroom!!
Since this range is privately owned, it fits all of our criteria!!
- Allow rapid fire .... No Problem
- Allow Tannerite ..... Fine - Just line up ahead of time on what
we want to do. We could probably place some 30-50 gal drums of water to
blow up as well.
- Allow tracers ..... No Problem
- Allow up to and include .50 BMG ...... No Problem
- Not a huge crowd on weekends ..... Just us
- Idiot free ........ Yes
Spike's taped a video of the range a year or two ago, so
you may be able to get an idea of the setup from this one. The wood benches
have been replaced with concrete.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=umWk6xdk_eg&feature=player_embedded
As an extra added goodie, Tom
(badazzar15) from Spikes Tactical will be there with a bunch of his
stuff to hang out, shoot, and chat with all of you!!

The meet-up will be on January 2nd!!

Food
- pegleggreg has a grill at the range, so bring your own dogs and/or
burgers to grill. (Also bring your own drinks and other food items you
will want).
Alcohol will not be allowed. If you do bring alcohol, you will be asked to leave.
Unfortunately, there is a facility constraint. The maximum amount of people allowed will be 30.
...........................................................................
Update-2:
Shooting time can only be between the hours of 8:00 AM - 5:30 PM
because of the dark. It will probably be that you show up when you can.
"Official" start time will be determined at a later date.
...........................................................................
Update-1:
The following is a list of users who have said they will be coming,
the number of how many in their party (including themselves). If you
need me to change the number in your party, please ether IM me or just
post in the thread. Thanks!

For clarification... This is just a way for me to see what the numbers
are looking like to determine if the day is going to be full. If
someone has to drop out or has a member of their party drop out, I will
post letting you know. Any place filling will be on a first come first
serve basis if there is not a waiting list.

I am, I try to pick up all my brass so I can reuse it and because I shoot on other people's land 95% of the time so I don't want to leave a mess.

If anybody doesn't want their brass from this meetup I'll take it.

Why so low a limit for the amount of time?

Both: You really have a lot of time for just 30 people to shoot. I mean, I can shoot for a couple of hours but dumping Beta mags gets expensive and empties PMC cases quickly...  I'm out after a $1000 worth of ammo has gone down range!

The facility constraint was set by the property owner.

That is just the shooting time. An official start time has not been established yet (will probably be 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM).

It will be more than just come and shoot. It will give everyone time to get together and shoot as well as have a fun talking about gear, firearms, politics, trucks/cars, etc.

I'm going to make a post the first week in december for every one to turn on their IMs because one week after the post I am going to IM everyone and see if they are still coming. They will have one week to respond to my IM. If they do not respond in one week, their name will be taken off the list.

If I cannot send them an IM because they have their account set not to receive site IMs, I will take their name off of the list.

I will provide instructions on how to turn the IMs on in the OP when the announcement comes.

I know I had the last post in here, but I'm posting this in a new one to bring it up to the top of the HTF.

Is anybody going to bring a .50 BMG that would be willing to let us put a couple through it if we buy/bring the ammo? My buddy was asking about what ammo he needs to start finding for this and asked about .50 and I told him I'd split a box of 10 with him if somebody's bringing one and would let us shoot it.

Well guys, it looks like I won't be shooting too much at the meet. I had a little issue on Saturday

I got rear ended on 301 while slowing down for a bus. The road was wet and I believe the driver who hit me was talking on the cell phone. I was hit on the back right as I was trying to speed up and get into the median to avoid a wreck and then was hit and pulled a 180 spin into the median (I'm guessing a 35-50 MPH impact). I remember hearing a loud bang, blacking out, then looking at the oncoming traffic in the southbound lane. I hit my head really hard on the headrest, then the steering wheel, then on the headrest again while digging a few pieces of glass from the rear window into my scalp. My Mom was in the truck with me and thank God she wasn't even scratched. I made sure the other driver was ok once I got my bearings and made sure my Mom was ok. As I pulled the other driver's door open (was a little stuck) I saw a cellphone on the floor so that's what makes me think she was talking on the cell. The lady was showing signs of shock and was cold so I rushed back to my truck and pulled out a blanket I keep behind the seats. She was not hurt, just shook up. Thank God for My Mom, the other driver, and myself for being alive and not majorly hurt. Thank God as well for seat belts. If I did not have mine on, I probably would have been thrown through the windshield.

My S-10 (2000) is probably totaled and hopefully the frame, axles, cab, and tranny are all good to go so I can hit up junk yards with the insurance money. If one or more of those are FUBARed, looks like I'll be shopping for a used Ford Ranger or Jeep Cherokee. The insurance adjuster from Progressive is going to look at it tomorrow (Monday) and see what it is worth. The person who hit me has State Farm, so they are going to try to low ball me as much as possible. No tickets or points on my record because I was not at fault. The Pasco County officer and the State Trooper were awesome to deal with and are a perfect example of what cops should be (I am praising them).

Parts list:

Bumper

2 - Side flairs

Tailgate

4 - Tires

I guess I can kiss the idea of trying to get an AR for the meet goodbye

The BFL took it pretty well though
