Assuming he filed a police report, most of the larger dept's will have a "Pawn-Shop Squad" that does nothing but check pawn tags against NCIC. As long as the pawnshop owner isn't a hook, they'll immediately report the serial number to the database. Anyways, I'll keep an eye open in Dallas. |

Isujim -- Thanks. The AR-15 can be singled out if they left the Giles tactical sling and A2 handle scope mount on it (it has an A2 rifle stock and a stainless post-ban barrel). The XD-45 sticks out of the crowd, since it has one of the only JPoint sights mounted on the rear dovetail I've ever seen. Thanks again and be safe. Jeff

Jeff,
I cross posted this over on www.TXDPSA.com That is the Houston area XD shooters. I feel for you man. I have two XDs with Jpoints, a V10 and a XD9Tac comp gun and if they went missing I would be sick. I hope you get them back. I will be watching at the gun show this weekend. It might not hurt to visit the gun ranges, ASC, Top Gun etc.. and talk to a Range Officer or two. They could be on the lookout. Also they would probably let you post something out at the range. You might also see if they will post something at www.texassouthsection.com |

Badazzar15 -- Nope, not yet. You know... the police officer who responded sure didn't seem very alarmed that someone had just stolen two weapons and hundreds of rounds of ammo. Go figure. When I was asked to list the items, she asked me what ".45 ACP" meant. I didn't know where to start =8^O Still lookin'. Jeff

sorry to hear about your loss, friend of mine had a lot of stuff stolen out of his home. We were lucky enough to catch the guy at a gun show with just about everything that was taken. (all the good stuff anyways) good luck recovering it. let those bastards who took it get gang raped in prison.

contact either your auto insurance, and or your homeowners insurance..either or both policys may cover theft from your vehicle.
you'd be surprised. |

I had this happen with my work gear (attache case with $4000 in laptop, camera, work files & tools). Vehicle insurance will laugh at you for even asking about replacement. Anything not attached to the car and a part of vehicle operation will not be covered. If you have home owners or renters insurance they should cover it as it's personal property regardless of location of your vehicle. Most insurance companies have a $1000 deductible, but you'd get a lot of $$ towards getting your gear back. Make sure to put together (if you haven't already) a list of all items and as many serial numbers as possible. You will need to submit a police report (or add the list of items to the existing one) if you haven't already that is. The home/renters insurance will want a police report that has the items listed on it (Farmer's did anyways). Good luck.

This reminds me that I need to update my home inventory.
I have a list of all my valuables including their serial numbers and a digital photograph. I keep it on a re-writable CD both at work and a home. I've been lazy about updating it with my latest gun aquitisions. |

Hey bro, sorry about your loss, but no one has mentioned something very important, maybe because its so obvious.
Our vehicles are not a safe place to store our prized possessions, regardless of where we live or where they are parked, time of day, whatever the reason. Ive been broken into (2X-house)(1X-car) in my nice neighborhood and at work. But I had sold an ar to buy a safe just 2 weeks before the first incident, and I am happy to say I didnt loose a single firearm. Im not trying to scald you bro, I just hope we can all reflect on such a terrible loss and remind us to be vigilant about safety and security. Just think, another evil scumbag is out there with 2 guns (good ones at that!) and a pile of ammo. Were watching for your stuff up here in Dallas at the shows bro, Sean |

Has anyone had any luck with the NRA-provided ARMSCARE insurance supplied with membership? This may be an option for you if you're a member as well. |

Sean, you are right on, Hopefully these firearms are not used in any felonious ways, because the owner could be, and often is liable, especially when, during investigations, it is discovered that the weapons were not secured properly, I've seen this too many times.
You guys out there that do this, do your self a favor, visit TruckVault.com and invest in one of there boxes, A piece of mind goes along ways, Good luck on the recoveries,, |
