I thought you weren't allowed to ship ammo with a firearm?
If you did, they might've detected it and confiscated it as illegal... |

Don't know if it is illegal or not but don't you think if they had taken it they would have said something to me or the dealer it was being sent to? I am 100% sure it was stolen. |

I filed a stolen weapon report with ATF. Since it wasn't insured USPS doesn't care.

I work for the USPS & even if it was insured they still wouldnt care. I have seen them deny claims numerous times.

Made it to Denver, CO then sent to the "Mail Recovery Center" (aka: federal fencing operation), I recieved a letter along with the sender stating the package was undeliverable. Funny how they could deliver the letters to both of us though. Sent an inventory list and several letters to the MRC, all unanswered, filed reports with the USPS investigation dept and still nothing, filed report with BBB, tried to report it to law enforcement, contacted the sorting facility, and filed complaint with some consumer affairs organization; not one single person did Jack Shit about anything. I have not used the Postal Service for anything since. I recieve junkmail and that's about it. I pay all bills online and ship everything via Fedex now. How does this Mail Recovery Center get away with stealing millions of items a year? Are there any checks in place to even slightly discourage theft or is every day X-mas day at some of these facilities? Not trying to dump on you personally or other postal employees, but I just couldn't believe how common this turned out to be. Do they ever hold anyone accountable for these thefts that apparantly occur on a daily basis? |

Maybe it's time the postal service went away and we let private industry take over. I know UPS or FED/EX could do it better. Bet you would see a lot less junk mail as well. |

I hate to say it, but I think that might be a good idea. I hate the idea of putting so many people out of work, I know most employees are probably decent people. These incidences however, destroy people's faith in the ability of the USPS to deliver (pun intended). Now would be a nice time to install surveillance equipment in all post offices without the workers knowing and then rooting out the thieves and prosecuting them to the full limits of the law. That would help restore some accountability IMO. Every firearm stolen is another one the antigunners will be able to use against us as soon as a crime is committed with the gun. Too bad the ATF doesn't know how to do it's job, otherwise this would be right up their alley. |

The good employees could get jobs with new and expanded private industry that delivers the mail with a contract from the US government. From CNN: "It's on track this year for an operating loss of between $6 billion and $12 billion, debt surpassing $10 billion, and a $1 billion cash shortfall." |

Fedex or UPS with full insurance is only smart way to send firearms or valuable items
I'm a ebay powerseller and anything of value that goes postal service only goes if i can insure it from a second company not the usps.. they don't give a shit about it whether its got insurance or not. USPS is going down and its probably a good thing, maybe i new system can arise from the ashes. |

The US.Gov should run the postal orifice like they do ammunition plants...
award a private contractor to run the thing. The union would be abolished, and every ones position and pay would be re-evaluated. Top heavy management would be a thing of the past. All facilities and equipment would still be US property.. |
