Hello,
Folks looking for Randal can get him at the California Precision rifle club forum. caprc He does not repsond to personal email nor phone messages. This is the only forum I was told he participates now. He is pretty much banned form most forums that he peddled his services because of sh_tty service. Take care! |

After a couple e-mail exchanges with Randall through his website, I dropped in on him to get a couple muzzle devices permanently attached to 14.5" barrels yesterday. He charged me $50 to perm-attach 2 barrel devices and an extra $10 to rework a threaded spacer. He completed the work in 45 mins while I wait in his shop. We didn't talk much, but he's really knowledgeable and capable as far is is craft is concerned. He kept notes and specs on all the different barrels he ever worked on, which I thought was kind of neat because chances are, he'll run into the same barrel again and again. He did mention he was involved in a motorcycle accident sometime last year and he's still trying to get caught up with back orders. I didn't even bring up the subject of back orders or this sticky on this forum at all. He just volunteered that information all on his own. I don't know how true this is, but there's at least 5 or 6 barrels sitting on his work-bench as we speak. All in all, it was a pretty smooth transaction for me. But then again, I had the luxury of doing business with him face-to-face.

I think there are far less problems if you stand next to him the whole time.

I know you don't want to burn your bridge with him, but if you get a chance to ask him about it, I'd sure appreciate the effort. It's all paid for, he was just going to rebarrel it and send it back. It had a keyholing issue from the first time he made it from a custom blank. |

Send me your information via IM or e-mail and I'll do my best sir. IMHO, I don't think he set out to take people's money and then not perform the work. I think he's just overwhelmed and really doesn't know how to get back on track. Then there's the money issue, he needs cash in order to get his shop fully functional. But he's NOT going to get a lot of new business with these type of issues hanging over his head. So he's caught up in a vicious cycle. I also wasn't aware that he recently moved to his current location, which is essentially a garage. The electrical panel didn't even look done yet and the TIG welder had to be restarted twice to work right. I just feel bad for the guy because if he does things the right way, he could give ADCO a run for their money. Once again, just because you're great at your trade, it doesn't mean you know how to run a business the right way. |

tell me about it. i completely understand. i've never been buried like how i am at the moment... however, the road to hell is paved with good intentions. he's probably a hell of a guy... might even be fun to shoot the breeze over a beer with. at the end of the day when you take people's money and their product and hide in the corner for YEARS you're not quite a stand up guy. he might have made his peace with it, but he should have been trying to make whole the folks he shafted, unintentional or not. he can kiss me between the back pockets... |

Randal pinned a A2 front sight post for me a couple weeks ago. Work was done very well. He responded to all my emails in a reasonable manner for someone who owns their own business. I would definitely use him again.
