I ordered an Omega MP5 pistol yesterday and need to get some ammo ordered for it. Is there anything to stay away from?  Is steel case ok to shoot?

158gr heavy subsonic damages my extractor spring, but other than that, everything's run fine in mine, including cheap steel. Mine's an older factory HK, though, so I don't know if that experience will directly translate to your new pistol.

Anything FMJ should run fine.   Flat points don't run in mine reliably but any 115, 124 and 147's that are round nose are just fine.

I have an SP5K and a Zenith Z5K.  I have run steel case, brass in 115, 124, 135 +p, and 147.  A variety of those weights were hollow points as well.  Neither one has had an issue.

I have run any ball ammo plus Speer Gold Dot 124 grain +P without issues on my MKE.

My Zenith Z5RS eaten a myriad of ammo including 147gr GDHP, 124+pgr Rangers, 124gr HST and a lot of 115gr FMJ with zero failures.

I'd stay away from steel for HK roller guns. The chamber flutes can get clogged up with that coating they put on the steel casings. Just use whatever cheap brass cased ammo you can find.

Avoid steel, case for the reason stated above. I have fed my MKE a variety of FMJ. No issues at all.

I did a small ammo test on my Omega. I feel American Eagle 115gr and Inceptor 65gr performed the best. I'd recommend staying away from any Freedom Reman 147gr. Remington UMC 147gr had a couple of hard primers/light primer strikes.
