LAV posted about this on his FB page today, it's dubbed the HK Masada as it looks very similar to the original Masada design.

I think it looks freaking sweet

I'm correcting myself on the 433. After seeing other pics of it I'll say it's sexy as fuck. Do want. What are the chances we will get the opportunity to own one though?

Hard to say with HK, they got a rep for not caring about US civilian sales for a reason.

I like it. Now once it gets civilianized, maybe not.

They have a way of messing guns up to make them exportable, unless they're made here.

This is probably why we aren't talking more about it.

Unless they build them at the new factory they are opening in the US and sidestep import/export restrictions entirely.

Hk are morons who hide behind german laws. The 433 has a quick change barrel. Bring it in as a 300 blackout or as a new round which is a 223 short chamber with a pin the the mag well like the scar so only 10round mags fit. Once in the us replace barrel and grind  down pin for the win.

It sounds like some of you guys really think that this new offering is intended to compete in the crowded US market. Frankly, I don't think HK gives a damn about whether this rifle could sell to civilians here in the US. Hell, I don't think they even intend for this offering to entice the US military. After all, it wasn't long ago that Uncle Sam decided that if we're married to the 5.56 cartridge, the M4 represents the best cost/performance ratio for a general issue weapon, in spite of other designs that offer advantages in certain areas. What seems to make the most sense is the prospect that this rifle was designed as a successor to the G36 for the German military. If that's the case and you're HK GmbH, any thing else is just icing on the cake.

It's a G36 without a wandering zero.

Can't read German. Looks like just another 5.56 offering. Already have all the 5.56 rifles I want.

I have more interest in this rifle than I have the SCAR's, the Masada, the Bren, or pretty much any other plastic rifle, or AR variant.

Yeah, I have more 5.56 rifles and SBRs then i'll ever be able to use. I look at them all and think why did I do this?

With that said, I could see buying one of these if it makes the US market

Not true, HK would sell everything they could to the US market.  Stupid US & German importation/laws prevent this from happening.  I believe this is why the HK MR rifles are labeled MR308 and MR223 in Europe, something about german sporting rifles can not be labeled in a military caliber.  Yet in the US they are labeled MR762 and MR556.  Think about how much it costs to have two different lower manufacturing or switching just because how some stupid law is written.

Except they don't. Their government and export laws are very restrictive when it comes to civilian sales.

The funny thing about this rifle, it'supposed to be a cheaper alternative than the HK416. The 416 is a tweeked AR. The AR was designed 60 years ago by a someone else, and can be found just about everywhere for under $600.

The 433 is an extruded upper rifle similar to the Scar and the XCR which  sell for $2,000 dollars plus.

I can't figure out the math here.

The 416 & 417 are the pinnacle of the AR platform, not just a "tweeked AR."  The 433 maybe HK's SCAR 16/17. Some users prefer the scar the AR platform.

The 'pinnacle' keeps getting gas block upgrades so it will work with a short barrel and a suppressor. It's got a wandering pinnacle.
