I chose the MKE over an Atlantic gun because it is a licensed version of the HK and at a lower price.
That said, I would be happy with an Atlantic gun, too. I have heard good things about them. And all of my experiences with Atlantic have been very good, which is why I bought my MKE through them. |

Okay okay okay 922r stuff
So could I buy 1 US made mag - 3 parts Choate Stock - 1 part US forward Grip - 1 part Hammer sear or trigger - 1 part ?????? Trying to figure out on price for compliance for SBR Just having a US mag alows it to be "legal" even if you are using the mags that come with it? If not then its $100 more for the MKE after you buy compliance parts |

I have an MKE PDW clone from the first importation a few years ago. I SBR'd mine and it has been flawless. For 922, I added the foregrip, stock, trigger, barrel, and sear. I had to add a US barrel in order to get the tri-lug, which wasn't offered in the original imported MKEs. I think I added about $120 in 922 parts, not counting the Green Mountain barrel. But you can purchase them over time while your stamp is in the approval process. Crazy quiet, cycles super smooth. It's an absolute dream to shoot suppressed. Interestingly, I didn't really notice a difference between 115 grain and 147 grain. I may need to shoot them side by side (shot the different ammo on different days), but I was extremely impressed with the sound from the cheap 115 grain stuff. |

Also seen some do it on the barrel covered by the Handguard. Then off I went down the rabbit hole that is internet forums to have my head explode trying to determine if it was actually ATF approved to have it covered. Seems everybody and his sister has conflicting views on "conspicuously placing" and for me it was an open enough question not deal with it and I just did it as recommended. YMMV of course. |

I fondled one at the local gun shop tonight, I'm in love. I have some spare funds and am seriously considering purchase. But why are these more expensive than an PTR91? I would think a .308 HK clone would cost more than a 9mm HK clone?

We have quite a few MP5's being used on our full-auto range to include HK, AA, MKE, POF, Special Weapons and Coharie. To say that POF or MKE are of a lesser quality than the US-produced models is NOT what we experience. We've had more US-made bolt carriers crack than the others but the locking pieces and firing pins all last about the same amount of use/time. We have HK's (and licensed POF/MKE's) with several hundred thousand rounds that need nothing more than barrel swaps when we can no longer get the proper bolt gap with over-sized rollers. This goes for the MKE's and POF's as well. The US-made receivers have cracked along the pinched area along the trunion where they are TIG welded from the factory. Also, the barrels last MUCH longer on the HK-licensed models. If you are going to purchase one, US-made or not, stock up on extractor springs. Also, make sure to order the G3/.308 type because in OUR experience, they last longer. V/R Ron View Quote When talking about the G3/308 type do you mean the metal lower rather than the polymer one? I'm torn between the POF and Zenith because I like the looks of the metal lower, but like the finish on the Zenith. |

If they were $3,500, they would hardly sell since an HK product would be in range, and if they were $700, they couldn't keep them in stock. In a sense, they're relatively half the price of an HK94, and the PTR is half the price of an HK91. One could think it's a matter of surplus parts, but we're far past that in either case. PTR is making their parts, not using surplus anymore, and MKE/POF are making their parts. It's only the custom builders that are relying on and using surplus MP5 kits as a parts supply. |

FWIW, I have about 1000 rounds through my POF Mp5 and no issues at all.
I have mounted my Tirant 9s with the triad 3 lug adapter on in and it was very tight at first, but I also had the whole upper, including the 3 lug, cerakoted. AK,
Do you mind posting side by side pictures of your MKE pistols? |

I have to ask. When H&K first released them, I bought an SP89. I purchased a number of 30rd MP5 magazines to go with it because it only came with one 15rd magazine. I noticed that the H&K 30rd MP5 magazines would not function reliably in the SP89. The 15rd magazine worked fine, but, none of the 30rd magazines would fire more than one shot before failing to feed. Everything was all H&K manufacture- no aftermarket junk. I got rid of that SP89 because of the inability to use 30rd magazines. Does this new MPK semi-auto clone function reliably with 30rd magazines?
