I would love an honest answer to this question.

How does the PTR compare to the real HK91?

I'll put it this way..

How's your hand feel VS having a woman ?

It can get the job done, but nothing beats the real thing

You can acquire 2 PTRs, ammo, and mags for the price of one "real" 91.

Every time I rock my 91, I feel like I'm putting excessive miles on a lambo, vs my toyota.

None of my PTRs have failed me. Ever. (Less the tight chamber <500s/n original run. but they made that right immediately)

I'd happily rock another PTR and put tons of rounds downrange, without worry.

Have you owned and shot both

I sold one of my 91's after buying a PTR and didnt feel like I gave up much. That was 10 years ago. With the guns now I think the gap is even less. Only chickenshit thing that really bothered me was the handguard on my 91k didnt have a heat shield and I melted it a little. Could buy a HK forend and still be well under a HK.

Own a HK91 and have shot a PTR

Owned both, would not pay the price for a real 91 today. I sold the 91 to make a nice profit back in the day and missed it ever since, having said that my PTR GI has been a great rifle has been as Good a rifle as the "real" 91.

I am anxious to see the new ZQI a guns though if they cant price them comparably to the PTR rifles I don't think they will do well.

Do you want to shoot a lot of .308 or be an HK collector? If you want to have a collection, and impress your friends and the internet- buy a 91. If you just want to shoot some .308 out of a rifle that isn't an AR platform- buy the PTR.

I think a more accurate comparison would be a HK-91 vs a PTR, a '93 clone, and an MP5 Clone... because the cost would be the same (or less).

I think I'd go for a deep stack of clonage.

maybe a Lexus vs a Toyota.

Better analogy.
I've owned both. Kept the HK91, sold the ptr.

I own an HK 91, and 2 PTRs.

PTRs are very well made, buy with confidence.

They appear to be the Turkish company MKE
Their pistols and rifles look pretty nice. I'm wondering if they are built to HK spec

They are, Turk's have been using the G3 Rifle for well over 30 years now.

Hk91 and the PTR91 shoot about the same. The German Gun is the better built weapon and over time will give you less trouble (Shrinking Gap).
The HK will have a cold hammer forged barrel the PTR will not, that's the difference.

Yes I own both.

HDH.

Have two 91's, and built my 2nd HK kit with bbl a month ago. One of my 91's has the polygonal bbl and the other a std bbl. The kit I just built, I got 10 years ago. Came with everything but the receiver. HK guns will last forever and no these are not safe queens, but I do like shooting my kit build more, cause if I scratch it,oh well.
