Paperwork aside, I'm thinking of buying a reverse stretch MP5 pistol to turn into an SBR and I have a couple of questions since I've only shot an MP5 once and it was a MG I put exactly one magazine through.

How difficult is it to install a stock on it?

Any suggestions on stock type for a reverse stretch?

How difficult is it to mount a K style handguard on it?

What type of forend should I get?

It's not. Pull a pin, slide off end cap, slide on stock, insert pin.
Reverse Stretch models (MP5K front end, MP5 rear end) use regular MP5 stocks, NOT MP5K stocks. Any stock that works on an MP5 will work on a Reverse Stretch model. Look for the big cap, rather than a flat plate, that slides over the rear of the receiver.
Reverse Stretch models use (mostly) standard MP5k front ends. They'll go right on, just like the stock. Remove pin, slide old handguard off, new handguard on, insert pin.
Whatever you want. The foregrip/finger guard combo is iconic and works well.

Excellent!  Any other suggestions?  Spare parts, must have items?

B&T 10266 is a nice and very low profile receiver mount for optics.

The $18 Korean mags work perfectly in my MP5. This might not be true for your MP5 but don't believe any of that IF IT'S NOT HK IT'S GARBAGE hyperbole that gets thrown around.

You can tart it up if you want to, it's your gun and your money, but MP5s don't need a lot of tacticool aftermarket like an AR. Buy mags, ammo, and shoot. :)

Make sure to do the six 922R compliance parts when it becomes an SBR.

This would be a Turner build using U.S. made RCM parts, so I guess it isn't an issue for me.  It will be interesting to see what comes out of the CZ question, though.

For basic spares I'd suggest several extractor springs, an ejector, ejector axle pin & spring and perhaps a roller retainer plate & roll pin.
I have spare firing pins and FP springs for my HK's. Even tho the originals are still good a spare FP spring came in handy one day after launching one across the garage while cleaning the gun.

I would be surprised if it took you more then a minute to swap both the stock and hand guard. As explained above, both are just the removal of one pin each and the parts come right off.

I have been eyeing he AA 89 reverse stretch MP5 in pistol form to form 1. Would use the front handguard that has the vertical grip.
