I have a Vector V53 SBR that has the older style convex retractable stock on it. I'd like to change it out to one of the newer concave style buttplates, but don't want to spend the $400-500 for a new HK factory stock.

Are there any options available from MKE or anything Pakistani made that's available and less expensive?

Is it possible to get an MP5 stock rail and install it on the older HK 33 series stock that I have?

I think I'll pick one up. How can I tell if I have a buffered carrier?

I also just purchased a V93 that is due into my dealer early next week. That I may use it with as well if possible.

The back of the carrier will have a half moon steel end sticking out of it. It does have a very stiff spring behind it. Here is a comparison picture I took for you. Unbuffered left/ buffered right. Using a buffered carrier allows the use for any type of stock. Having an unbuffered carrier requires a spring loaded buffer in the stock. Standard MP5 style ones are just rubber and will not sufficiently work against the .223/5.56mm recoil energy.

Vector V93s will have a buffered carrier. The only guns that DIDN'T come with a buffered carrier from the factory were HK93s (civy) HK33 (le/mil) HK53 (le/mil) made AFTER 1981.

Thanks for the pictures. I do have a buffered carrier. Will any MP5 stock work on a 33 series rifle as long as it has a buffered carrier?

I'd suggest test fitting any metal capped stock prior to purchase if possible. None of my German stocks, A2, A3 or SG, will fit my Vector 53 even though it came equipped with an A3 stock from Vector.

Oh I may just have to pick one of these up from my C93.

I don't care for the fixed stock what so ever

Be sure to think about the cheek weld issues with HK retractable stocks before buying one. They have the worst cheek weld ever.

That thought did cross my mind.

I'll still keep the fixed stock. Hoping it'll shorten the LOP a bit. A little long for my liking

The HK retractable stocks are sexy as hell, but lousy for actual shooting.
