last week i found a few 9mm mage that appear to be straight mp5 mags. they look pretty odd, but the top half looks right.

one is marked mp5hk over 9/67, and the other is mp5hk over 6/67.
they were $50 a piece. are they ok mags?

At that price - NO WAY.

Straight 30 round factory stick mags should be around $20ish or less.

I own a bunch and prefer the curved as on occasion a select few jam / fail to advance rounds properly. I think that's why HK had a design change to curve 30 rounders to lessen the problems.

They're good mags, but I have to agree with the above poster that $50 each is way too high.

$30-35 is what I see them going for. I would buy them all day long at $20.

Please point out a source for straight mags at $20, we could use a supply of them in house for a project.  Market rate on them these days is $35-$40+

I own around 30 of them I have bought off of B. Hintons Sturmgewehr site. I am positive I paid no more than $10ea and they were all in like new condition.

Granted that was a few years ago .... I still occasionally see  them online in the $20ea range at various sites. If they were easy to find at that price, others wouldn't be asking more. You gotta do your own diggin' if you want the deals

I have used the straight mags in my MP-5, with no issues.
I thought I read they were designed for hollow point ammo?
Anyway, they are half the price of curved mags.

Curved mags were designed to address the feeding issues of hollow points

+1000
Straight mags are the original HK mp5 design but were designed for FMJ ammo. The curved mags were designed to resolve hollowpoint issues with the straight mags. But they look so cooool.....

straights cost me like 19.99 each while curves were 39.99

Yes, why wouldn't it.  Every police department you see with MP5s is using hollow point ammo.

I'll go with Stickman on this one.
It would be a poor smg design if it can only fire fmj ammo.

The stick mags came out first, the designed the curved mags to feed hollow points better. I have one stick mag that came with my MP5 parts kit, I ordered a couple of the curved mags, they look better.
