I don't see many, i'm feeling it's not a well liked thing to do?  I ask because I have a UMP clone and the plastic/polymer receiver is a bit scratched up and I'd like to bring some life into the gun again....

A clone, go for it. A real MP5 or UMP, no way.

Yeah, thats exactly what I was thinking

I actually like the urban camo or digital urban camo theme....but not sure how it'd look on a UMP type weapon.

Go for it, use the factory color as one of the colors if you wish, or just have it painted to match the factory UMP color.

HK is doing it now with the RAL 8000 industrial finish available.  I say "industrial finish" because the color and paint used to normally paint that color is common for German farm equipment engines and implements.  I know some guys are Ceracoating that color.  If you're doing a good job of it, it could be nice to have the most modern MP5 variant:

So anyone have a lead on RAL 8000 paint? Or should I just go for the cerakote air dry stuff?

http://www.tibu-treppenshop.de/farben-lacke/hesse-lignal-2k-acryl-lack-farblack-1-liter-braun-ral-8000-ral-8028.html

and

http://www.militaerlacke.de/lack/1kkunstharzlacke/wehrmacht/ral8000gelbbraunnr16.php

But they are both in Germany and it would be mighty expensive to import it.

The RAL colors are standard colors and someone who mixes automotive paint could probably do it.

When I refinish my old MKE, I am going with the Cerakote.

Yea, Germany doesn't help me or make it inexpensive.
