I found a cheaper HK91 that's in a little rougher shape recently and have decided to send it off to get it refinished.  I'm contemplating having it converted to a G3 or a G3K and I need some help trying to decide what to do.  I really wouldn't have a designated purpose for either rifle.

Your gun, your choice. I see no point in the G3K other than looking cool.

True, but they do look good in K configuration!

I agree.

If I had two HK91's then I would make leave one as a full stock 18" barrel, and convert the second one to a SBR with collapsible stock.
If I only had one HK91, then I would leave it as a full size, unless there was a significant need for an SBR.

Yeah for my first G3 I went full size 18" barrel. I want a G3K next though for blasting away for fun. My AAC 762sdn6 suppressor is rated for 7.62x51mm with a barrel as short as 12.5" long.

That's awful sexy John, I'd love to have something similar.  How do you have the pic rail attached?  As far as Atlantic goes I'm guessing they're gonna get some PTRs in K configuration accompanied by that sweet brace all those POFs are sporting.

I went in between on my PTR and got the 16" barrel with full length handguard.

For SBR length in 30 cal I just stick to 7.62x39 with handloads. Performs about the same as 308 in a stubby gun without as much flamethrower. I do envy a g3k setup, just cannot justify it for now.

Here's a shot of my PTR-91 Classic with a clipped and pinned steel lower and wood hand grip.  I'll be refinishing the stock and hand guard to more closely match the hand grip (purchased from a member of another forum).

Based on how well my 33k balances. I wish I would have built a G3k instead of my 51 as an SBR, and kept my 18".

If you don't wish to go through the SBR hassle, I'm real happy with my 16" PTR with the 33 forend.

This is a 91K that Mark of ARS built for me two years ago.

Very sweet, the pics don't do it justice.

Not an SBR
