Damn that's cheap!

I was hesitant at that price but after looking around the past few weeks since I bought it I know I got a good deal. Glad I pulled the trigger when I did. I'm waiting on the HKparts.net USA mags. I'm in no hurry.

Looking good and didn't take you very long.

What barrel are you goin to use?

I have the HDPS with the flange now. It seems to be GTG.

I think I'm going to order a threaded one from them to run my octane 45 on it when it gets out of jail. I have 2 oem USC barrels so I have considered sending one to ADCO for a cut in thread.

Yeah, it's definatley a good price. Before that, I had to buy them off of Gunbroker for ~$75 a piece, which was still cheaper than $90ish from HKParts

Your wallet will hurt..mine did. But you WILL NOT regret it. Get it done by Tom Bostic and you will have a work of art. I just need to get mine SBR'ed.

I'm waiting for the $50 USA mags. I figure that way the compliance is dealt with as well.

Co-worker grabbed me this from a different local gun store (one he used to work at). I thought that was an awesome gift.

USC - $1600 and up
UMP Lower - $275 - $300...may be more, may be less. Prices have been coming down on these
Stock Block - $165
Turning lower to work with upper - $40, or get a file (HDPS)
Milling cooling ports, mag work, engraving - $160 (TommyBuilt)
Stock - $100
Stock Pin - $20
Rails - $100
HK Vertical Grip - $60
Barrel Cut and Thread - $85 (ADCO)
NFA Tax - $200

Or you can get a UMP ($1600 and up) and get a parts kit ($800 and up). My first build was with me having to buy parts individually. My second I was lucky and found a parts kit

I've got $3000 each or so in both of mine.

Ballpark, and assuming work is performed by a professional, what is the total amount one should expect to spend from start to finish on a USC conversion?  (Not including mags and accessories, of course, just the gun, conversion parts and labor.)

I was able to do my USC conversion last year for a total of $1775 ($1200 for lightly used USC + $575 for UMP parts). Only thing I didn't do was mill out the cooling vents, one of these days I will get around to sending it to Tom Bostic to have it done.

All parts are new unaltered factory German. New HK UMP .40/45 S/F lower, new factory folding stock with german rear stock pin & 3 new UMP .25 rd .45 acp mags.

Other than the USC,and the machining, would this package be all I'd need to buy to finish up the conversion?

How do they shoot?  I've been considering a UMP build, but I'm concerned with the blow back action.  Is the recoil similar to a blow back 9mm AR15?  Easy to stay on target for multiple hits?  I always thought the 9mm AR15's felt cheap or something.  The recoil impulse just seemed weird.

It's a different recoil impulse, but totaly manageable. I just took mine out last weekend and repeatedly cleared all the steel poppers, Texas star, and dueling tree with no misses. The trigger pull sucks when you dry fire it, but when live fire somehow its way better. I put a mini reflex sight on it and very easy to stay on target with rapid fire.

I just realized I never posted the finished product.

My boss helped me cut the barrel. Gunsmith crowned it at home since his tools were there (I didn't get to see that happen ). Just need some US UMP mags from HKPARTS!

Barrel is not threaded yet because I don't know what can I'm going to run. I also left a little length so I can shorten it after I see how the can mounts. The white is whiteout from marking the barrel, I removed it.

Does anyone have feedback on US made triggers and sears for USC/UMPs?  Are they difficult to swap out?

Anyone know the approx. turnaround time for conversions from HDPS? Is Tommy's builds around the same price/time frame?

HDPS has a bunch of things on their labor list that I don't want done/think I need done. Is this all I need outside of parts to finish this conversion?

$  60  Engrave Polymer receiver for SBR
$  25 Mill upper receiver to accept the UMP Mag
$  85  Mill Rt. and Lt. UMP and lower vents in front receiver

ETA

nope, it's this dude with the end cap removed.  Gave me the shorter LOP I was looking for.  A few thousand rounds later, it still works fine
